h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

It's a nice, sunny day and I just visited Student Services to get a new ID card. Why do they *always* have terrible photos? (Like drivers' licences and passports, I assume. I did my hair special, and all!)
Below, is a pome what I wrote yesterday afternoon, after reading in the newspaper about Dubya acting like the fabled gnome (about France and Germany) when the young Queen guessed his name, and kept her baby.
We want a War

He stamps his feet and drools
With anger, temper, righteousness
They won't agree, the fools
And him, he will not bless
Their talk

He knows what they should do
What all the world should see
His Empire must be made anew
So he and his are free
To rule

"I want a war" the gnome insists
The chimp shouts, as he spits
He's made his little lists
Of those who took his wits
To hell

Cocaine will do that, man
And privilege, that too
He will because he can
He won't listen to you
Or me

Good lord! Not only is this the first of your journal entries I have had sent to me (only just added you to my list ) but you are the first researcher I have seen, who can ACTUALLY write poetry.

Stunned, am I.

Oh no. I appreciate it more. The sheer -ness I feel at bad poetry online, and then I finally get around to adding you to my list and you give me hope! Hope for the future! Excellent stuff.

Thanks hasselfree! I started writing poetry only in 2001, and I did an *awful* one about the loss of the space shuttle on Jimmy's 16th birthday. I haven't given up on it, it's a work in progress.
