...but I'm not a cat so hopefully it shouldn't kill me. I am, in fact, an ACE (Assistant Community Editor) and it means that I have volunteered to personally meet and greet newcomers to the Guide such as yourself.
Welcome to H2G2 C. Raymond White!!
Unpublished poems? Have you had some published then? Or are they all unpublished?
If you have any questions, ask away... I may not be able to answer them accurately or even at all, but I'll be able to find someone who can. You can also go and ask the rest of the ACEs at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Aces
Don't worry if it takes you a while to get back... I have a plentiful if not endless supply of s and and will sit here eating them until you return. So there's no hurry! But do have a doughnut or some cake yourself.

Thank you for your introduction and welcome. Sorry that I have not responded until today, and that my response will be short. As it is only at work that I have a half way decent internet connection, I do not try to use the internet from home anymore. Once you are used to a T1, there is no going back to the meager tens of thousends for a modem speed. My what a society we have become where a whole 2 or 3 seconds counts. Working for an internet company I see it everyday. Companies deciding who to do business with by looking at things like who is 1 second faster than who, who has neat little ticker things instead of just having to wait. Sometimes it just annoys me. It is no wonder that I am one of the few people who has almost never bought anything online (the only thing being tickets to see Penn and Teller). Am I a dying breed, one who still actually enjoys to spend time browsing through the shelves of a book store without really knowing what one wants to find. To go to the Record Store and spend hours just looking, and walk out without buying anything, but having enjoyed myself immensely. We are an impatient society today that wants everything quick quick quick. I actually turn my cell phone off when I go out with friends. The only reason I have one of those damnable things in the first place is because I broke down in the middle of nowhere during a rain storm.
No I have not published any poems. I probebly will never publish those, except maybe someday when I get my own web page (which will probably happen when the internet is passe). I am working on story right now, following the the brief but tragic life of a young lady named Cirey and taking it beyond by follwing her yet unborne child, who, well, as of yet has not been borne so I do not have a name for it yet. Once I get to that part then I will have a better idea. Right now as I do not have the whole course of action worked out yet, things are kind of spontaneous and in the sort of note taking phase right now.
Well I guess this was not as brief as I had originally thought. Again thank you for the welcome to this truely great community. I look forward to being able to contribute. Sorry for the rant.
Thanks,
Me

Short indeed!
Oh, stop making me jealous!! *is using a 56k modem attatched to a 486- yes, a 486*
I've never bought anything online. Partly cos my parents would kill me, partly cos I don't have a credit card, but mostly cos I haven't yet found anything I particularly want. And being stingey I prefer shopping round for stuff I do want... Aaahhhh!!! You have a mobile!! *makes a sort of hissing noise* Ridiculous things...
That's cool, anyhow.
Oh! You're someone who actually has the courage to kill the main character in the first book!! *approves thoroughly*
I've had many ideas in which that happens, but as yet haven't even written a short story about it... Isn't most of writing a story/book just sort of spontaneous? That's how I write - I get a rough plan in my head, or maybe just a vague idea of part of a plan and see where it gets me. I'm working on a story at the moment as well though. To do with a two people called Reth and Cona (bad I know, but why not?!) set some time in the future - so unoriginal - when the galaxy has been deserted owing to the native lifeforms on Earth starting to poke around the galaxy a bit... that's all so far. I'm not sure what happens yet, I only had the idea for the start of it, which I've done.
I'd give you the link to H2G2 Fiction, but I haven't got it... I'll try and find it though, if you want it.
