Hey. What you're doing looks pretty interesting. I enjoy acting and writing, and I reckon I might be able to help you out. Can you tell me a little about what you hope to achieve with this project?

People Doing Stuff, is, as I said on the NiteSciFi thread, is a British cartoon about a family. We've so far got one script finished, and one fairly close. It would be hard to make you a writer at this late stage, as you'd have to know what all the characters are like - what we're looking for are voice actors. If you are British, you can choose to be one of the main characters - I'm thinking of replacing a couple of them - but, if not, you'll have to be one of the others. The current character list can be found on the NiteSciFi thread - you don't have to join to read it, only to post in it.

I've already had a quick look on that site, and I'll have a better look later. I must say the only character I found at all interesting was the Over-enunciating Announcer, or whatever he was called. Memory strikes again
And yes, I'm British. I live Oop North but I'm told I have a very refined, Stephen Fry type voice. Though recorded I sound like someone's grandma
Assuming I participated, what equipment would I need, for example software etc. I've never done anything like ths before, so I'm not sure what I'll need..

If it helps, I haven't done anything like this before either.
You don't need any special software - Windows Movie Maker will do. And if you've got a posh voice, you could also do Dr Paperclip - I'm assuming you only looked at the first page of the NiteSciFi thread, whereas the Paperclips are on the second.

Dr. Paperclip sounds interesting. What's his character? I've seen your sample script and Mrs. Paperclip is scary<winkeye
Hi

I assume you mean Miss, not Mrs, Paperclip, as they are two different characters.
Dr Paperclip has only six lines, so I encourage you to choose as many characters as you can manage. The Paperclips are one-off characters and are unlikely to appear again. The same goes for the Announcer.
The man Dr P is partly based on - my science teacher, Dr Moody - has a sort of Northern accent. The character acts all kindly, even when he's telling the class to do a thousand-word essay on fitting paperclips into beakers.

Mrs, Miss whatever. The old memory's never been much use
I'm not really much of a character actor, so I'm not sure how many I can manage...

Well, you'll have an idea of what Dr P's like when I get back from my holiday on Saturday - then I'll have access to the scripts. The problem at the moment is that, the same day I come back from my holiday, the other main writer goes on holiday! For two weeks!

There's some writing you could do as well if you're interested - there's a gap I need to fill in the planning for 01AG. Matthew and Gordon, two Year 7 students, are trapped in a broken-down lift with their form tutor, Mrs Zhang. Mrs Zhang acts serious, but is quite forgetful. Can you write a scene with them in the lift?
Hi
Aximili Posted Aug 7, 2007
I can give it a go. What are the characters of the people? What needs to happen in the scene?
Hi
flicky1991 Posted Aug 7, 2007
Nothing "needs to happen": I can get them in and out the lift, I just don't know what could happen in there. The lift is just a B-Story to go in-between scenes of Donna trying to impress her boss.

I've described Mrs Zhang already, and the two boys are just average schoolboys of 11 or 12. I can't really give a more accurate description. Matthew and Gordon are friends, and they don't like Mrs Zhang much, although they don't really hate her either.

No, not at all. The progress of the show at the moment relies on Philip, who, as I said, will be on holiday. No need to rush.
