Dearest Polly smiley - smiley,

>>>>>>.......the email address is rather unusual, and it did quite frighten me!!

There's a long and complicated story behind that weird address......a bit ironic actually, because it first started as a web page intended to provide cookery advice...just one of my overoptimistic schemes. When I set it up I wanted it to be two words but then realised smiley - erm you can't have a space. Like an idiot smiley - silly, instead of just putting the words together, I linked them with the hyphen. Of course, nobody would dream of searching for that, so, in all the time since then, I've had precisely no hits.

When I considered at one stage trying to find out if I could change the title, I discovered that I had been really, really daft smiley - sillysmiley - sillysmiley - silly. There was already a website with the same broad aim, belonging to no less than Heston Blumenthal. smiley - ermsmiley - erm Can't compete with that!

Anyway, as I said, the site was getting no hits at all, so it then occurred to me that it could be useful as an anonymous email (anonymous because at one time I had to build as many layers of "firewall" as possible to protect a family member). Can't tell you any more than that on here, but I will elsewhere in due course.

The final bit of irony, which I find really funny, is that I have recently received two Emails from the domain host (if that's what they're called) offering to publicise my web page to several million people for a modest fee!!!. It doesn't get spammed, though, except that you-know-who's first Email was treated as spam. (Must remember to tell that person in my next message.)

I do hope that hasn't bored you too much, but I wanted you to have a bit of background to why I had a "frightening" address. In your place I'd have been very wary, too.

I hope your afternoon walk helped a bit, though sometimes nothing seems to, I know. Did you spot me springing to your defence at the last minute on the snog thread, by the way?

It's been a pretty good day here, although it was a bit cold until around lunchtime. Despite having company, I've been nodding off smiley - sleepy every few minutes smiley - sleepy...even sitting at Herbert (the PC's name)....smiley - sleepy because of a severe lack of sleep last night. I was out of bed and pacing around at least four times (lost count) because of horrendous cramps in my legs and feet. That's why I no longer do much walking, but I am working on it, hoping that the more I force myself to do, the better it will get.

Sorry I've had to write yet another message stilted and so late that you probably won't see it till tomorrow. I hope at least that it makes some sort of sense. I am dropping off smiley - sleepy as I write so I really must say Goodnight and loads of apologies smiley - sorry for frightening you with the odd address. I do hope it makes some sort of sense now. (I'm still happy to send you a 'normal' one via you-know-who if you'd feel happier)

Goodnight and God blesssmiley - kiss

Dearest Polly,

We've just had a super day and last weekend was, too. I had to tell someone and who better than you?

It somehow feels so unfair, though, that we should have had such a good time when you seem to be getting all the bad stuff, and I can't think of anybody who more deserves better luck than you do. I haven't seen anything of you today, either on the MBs or here so I am a bit concerned. Please tell me about it. I do so hope there's nothing too serious.

It may not be of much cheer to you, but I believe we are given some troubles and sadness so that we will better appreciate happy times when they come along. I just wish you had a better share of the latter.

If I could, I'd be more than happy to take some of your bad times for myself. It would make me feel I had at least made some slight improvement to your life. If only that were possible.....

Meanwhile, all I can do is hope that a few of the prayers are answered. Perhaps they will be, as I'm not asking anything for myself.

I'll leave it at that for now; I hope you will get to see this message today as it's not quite so late as I've had to be sometimes.

Hello dear B.smiley - hug

Thank you so much for the lengthy posts. I didn't use my computer at all yesterday. I was at church in the morning and evening. The evening service was lovely and we sang, amongst the new 'songs', some of the old hymns: What A Friend We Have In Jesus and How Sweet The Name Of Jesus Sounds. As usual, the words made me weepy. But I think that everyone is getting very used to that by now! smiley - blush
I also went for a walk in the afternoon, and explored a new route.

I'm so glad that you had a happy weekend. And thank you again for your prayers. smiley - smooch Prayer is so important. I talk to God constantly. I love being in the woods on my own because I talk to Him, and cry to Him, and sing to Him!

I saw so many jackdaws splashing in a stream in the woods. I love jackdaws. And I saw more roe deer. I just keep walking, and feel at one with nature. I have always had an'Alice In Wonderland' kind of syndrome! I want to be able to go into rabbit holes, or sit with foxes, or become tiny in the grass and see the spiders and grasshoppers! I think that it all stems from a childhood book 'The Lord Of The Rushy River' by -oops, I can't remember. It's about a little girl who's daddy must go to sea and she has to live with horrid Dame Dinage(I think that was her name). She runs away and lives with the swans. This book truly was real to me. And something magical happened early one morning that made me want to live with swans or creatures.
My daddy had gone to work very early(probably about 5am). It was summer time. I was about 10 years old. I had heard mummy and daddy in the kitchen(my mother always got up with my father when he had to go to work early). I got out of bed, sat on the window-seat, and opened the window. I was listening to the dawn chorus when suddenly 2 beautiful swans flew past my window. It was sheer magic. I thought that they had flown past just for me.I imagined climbing onto the wings of one of them and being taken to their nest on the river(which is what happened to the little girl in the story).
I've just gone to look for the book, but it isn't in my bookcases. It's probably still in my daughter's basement.

I haven't had my supper yet. I really should be cooking it. smiley - erm

Tomorrow I am going to church in the morning to help with the 'Twins club'. And I have been invited to the luncheon club on Thursday, which this week is a roast beef meal. So that will be rather yummy.I rarely bother to cook roast dinners for myself, although I love them.

Whilst you are on the MB's, I must get this out to you.

Lots of love,

I just thought of this lovely song, B. So here it is, just for you.

Every time we say goodbye, I die a little.
Every time we say goodbye, I wonder why a little.
Why the gods above me, who must be in the know
Think so little of me that they allow you go.
When you're near there's such an air of Spring about it,
I can hear a lark somewhere begin to sing about it.
There's no love song finer, but how strange
The change from major to minor.
Every time we say goodbye .

Sorry I've had to omit a large part of this one, Polly; it would have conveyed completely the wrong message if I'd left it all in. The bit I've kept gets somewhere close, though.

Baby there's no goodbyes
I'll always be right by your side
I may be far away
You know that my heart will stay, with you, always

Now I've pictures in the distance
Even though it seems a million miles
But there'll be no space between us
I'll be there every time you close your eyes. Yes I will.

Hello again, B.smiley - hug

You mentioned Guinness tonight, which was a coincidence as I had only just mentioned Guinness on another thread(Card For Christmas)!

And the penny only dropped just the other day about your email address. The name you use is the one I had once called you on the 'Songs for.....ers' thread. Sorry, but I must seem a bit slow! The truth is that I'm not very good with jokes.smiley - sadface

Have you got problems with your legs? No need to say here if you don't wish to. I do hope that you aren't kept awake at night with any pains. I went through a period of having bad fibromyalgia, which made it almost impossible to sleep...

I must get to my nest very soon or I shall find it hard to get up early tomorrow!smiley - erm

I now mention you in prayer at night. And ofcourse your wife too.

So I shall wish you a very Good Night, with sweet dreams, and a decent night's sleep. If you awaken in the night, you can think of me strolling through the woods-listening to the many birds singing, and sitting way inside the forest with my lunch. I love taking my lunch out with me. I either sit in the forest on a log in the sunshine, or I climb over a very large gate , before I reach the woods, which leads into a private field. I walk only a little way along, spread out my cardigan on the grass, and sit quietly with lots of butterflies around me. It's all I need to make me happy and thankful.

Goodnight dearest B.

This is a lovely way to spend an evening. Can't think of anything I'd rather do.
This is a lovely way to spend an evening. Can't think of anyone as lovely as you.
A casual stroll through a garden. A kiss by a lazy lagoon.
Catching a breath of moonlight, humming our favorite tune.

I want to save all my nights and spend them with you.

Polly, dear smiley - smiley

Going back a bit (No 24), smiley - sorry if I seem to have got into a bit of a tizz when there was, after all, no need. You can't know how concerned I was smiley - wah while I was writing and how relieved I was smiley - smiley when I found out that it was just that you hadn't been on the PC. I don't think there's an ''enormous sigh of relief'' smiley or I'd put a whole string of them.

You had earlier mentioned several things that were awry, so I was thinking of all the things that might have been keeping you away smiley - sadfacesmiley - sadface You had said, for example, that you would be glad to be going out early one day but you expected a wearying day and you seemed not to be looking forward to it. You had also mentioned 'certain things' that prevented you buying plants for your garden. (A couple of other things, too)

All in all, that led me to be very concerned that you might be unwell or, perhaps, having other problems. Even though this is open to others' gaze, I don't mind admitting to have shed some real tears while I was writing. I hope if anyone else does read this that they will continue to treat it in confidence as they appear to have done so far.

I won't go into detail (here) about the cramps etc except to say it's nothing to worry about.

I expect you're fast asleep by now, so sweet dreams.

Hello, dear Polly smiley - smileysmiley - hug

I was thinking of putting Good Morning, but it's a bit too formal smiley - winkeye , and then you probably won't be reading it this morning, anyway.

I'll make a big effort not to get into a tizz today smiley - blush if you're not around. Especially since you told me last night that you were off to 'Twins Club' this morning. smiley - erm Is that what it sounds like? If so, I'm surprised there are enough twins in one area to form a club. Or is it, perhaps, some sort of metaphor?

We've got another lovely sunny morning here. Yesterday afternoon it turned dark and there were a few drops of rain but it didn't last. "Mrs P" (aka* "Mrs B" , aka " 'er indoors" , aka "My Old Dutch" [actually Jxxx - not Jack but think about it]) still managed to get the washing dried. The rotary line didn't bite me yesterday. I think I mentioned that on one of the MBs you read. If not, I'll tell you about it sometime.

Thank you for telling me about the swans smiley - smiley. That's really lovely smiley - smiley. I used to think I would have some fairies come to visit me when I was a (very) little boy (by the time I was ten I could cook a meal, mend fuses and maintain some of the electrical items around the house smiley - cool?? - or, perhaps not.) It's stood me in good stead though, for life.

I haven't tried Redbush smiley - tea yet but I'll let you know what I think of it as soon as I have. Why haven't they got a dedicated smiley for Coffee, I wonder?? I have two cups of it as a Screen-saver (as well as a slide-show of pictures of cigarette lighters). I can almost see you going smiley - ermsmiley - ermsmiley - erm. Well, they do say it takes all sorts smiley - biggrin

Here's ONE line smiley - biggrin (in case we're being watched smiley - winkeye ) from a song :- "Be back soon!"

I'll be back later.

I'll be right here waiting for you (another song line; I'll have to post the whole of that later, I think, if the words fit OK)

I hope you enjoy helping with Twins Club.

Hello dear B.smiley - hugsmiley - hug

Just a quick message as I'm about to go to the prayer meeting.

Twins Club was very enjoyable. I had been asked if could possibly do the teas and coffees sometimes. So I went along to 'learn the ropes'. There were quite a few of my new church friends there doing things so it was a lovely social morning. There are about 12 pairs of twins! Some of them come from quite a distance.

I couldn't sleep at all last night! In the end, I lay on the couch, and opened my bedroom windows wide for some air. At about 6am I fell asleep! Then when I awoke, it was 9am, and I had promised to be at church by 9am! I got there in the end by 9.40! So, it was my turn to have a restless night. Wookie was very restless too. I opened the front(one and only) door at 6am, and left it open so that he could come and go. I was too weary to kepp getting out of bed for him. There is no cat-flap in the door as yet.

Oops, I must get my jacket and think about going out.

I do hope that you have had a very happy day. Will write more later DV.

Love from me and Wookie

Hi B. I've just noticed that you are still up. I thought that maybe you had gone to bed!

The prayer meeting went on until 9pm. We sang a few lovely hymns too.

I am sitting here eating pretzels! I shouldn't really as they are very salty.
I do hope that I get some sleep tonight. And I hope that you do too. It's horrid when 2 o'clock, and then 3/4/5 o'clock comes and goes and one still has had no sleep.

Here is part of a very sweet song-just for you tonight:

Dream your way to the stars in the sky.
You and me, me and you on our way to the top.
Spread your wings, we can fly to the stars in the sky.
To the left, to the moon, is the star on the right,
And I can meet you, I can meet you, I can meet you.

The Second Star to the right
Shines in the night for you
To tell you that the dreams you plan
Really can come true.

The second star to the right,
Shines with a light that’s rare.
And if it’s Never Land you need,
It’s light will lead you there.

Twinkle, twinkle, little star
So I’ll know where you are.
Gleaming in the skies above ,
Lead me to the land I dreamed of.

And when our journey is through,
Each time we say good night,
We’ll thank the little star that shines,
The second from the right.

Goodnight, B, and God bless you and Mrs. P..

Thank you for your tears, dearest B. smiley - hugsmiley - hugsmiley - hugsmiley - hug

Dearest Polly smiley - smiley,

Well, I did manage not to get into a tizz today smiley - smiley. How sweet you were to post me that message before you went off to your prayer meeting - that was so thoughtful. Typical of you to think of others despite your own situation smiley - hugsmiley - hug.

I was so sorry to hear of your sleepless night smiley - wah ; do you think perhaps it was because you are actually doing just a bit too much. I know you need to balance exercise and rest or too much of either can undo the benefits of the other. I had quite a good night - only woke up three or four times and managed to go off again each time.

The reason I was "off the MBs" earlier smiley - sadface wasn't (as you now know) that I'd gone to bed, but that Jxxx was on the PC. I'm definitely getting a laptop as soon as I can decide exactly which one.

I noticed some very amusing guesses on the I spy smiley - biggrin. You shouldn't put yourself down ..... (you said a few messages back that you weren't very good with jokes). I don't know whether you would have picked up on 49er's reference to "the Absolutely Not bit", though (in 119 on the I spy). It actually referred back to 65 and 68 on the Sailor thread. Have a quick look if you didn't notice.

I want to tell the whole world about the last couple of weekends - they were so enjoyable smiley - magic. Nothing spectacular or anything like that - just a whole load of little things smiley - somersault. But I can't, because the first person I tell has to be someone special. Does that make sense to you? That's why I can't tell you on here ( that plus the fact that I don't want to share every detail with the world - but I do with you ). I'll tell you all about it and all about my super family in due course elsewhere.

Thank you too for the extra "goodnight"

Now here's a special song for you, not for the public snog thread

Oceans apart, day after day
And I slowly go insane
I hear your voice, on the line
But it doesn't stop the pain
If I see you next to never
how can we say forever

Wherever you go, whatever you do
I will be right here, waiting for you
Whatever it takes, or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you

I took for granted, all the times
That I thought would last somehow
I hear the laughter, I taste the tears
But I can't get near you now
Oh can't you see it baby,
You've got me going crazy

I wonder how we can survive, this romance
But in the end if I'm with you, I'll take the chance

Oh you can't see it baby
You've got me going crazy

Goodnight smiley - hug . God bless you, Polly
