...but who cares anyway?

Another occasional glimpse into my dull and not so exciting life.

So what has happened since Christmas then? Not much... I have had a few more mousey visitors in the attic, some of whom didn't leave in the way they expected! Unless they want to contribute to the mortgage repayments, I will continue to repel the verminous little invaders with extreme prejudice. smiley - smiley

I was away on a stag night last weekend. We sort of 'lost' the 'stag'! He was a bit the worse for wear after being fed multiple assorted cocktails. The bouncers in the nightclub didn't seem to like him sleeping on the chair and they threw him out. He later decided to go walkabout round the town in the wee hours and we had a hell of a job tracking him down...

Nursing some sore heads the next morning, we all went in search of a cafe and ordered Ulster Fries all round, which hit the spot and put us in the mood for one last drink 'for the road' to use up the remainder of the 'kitty' (It turned into TWO last drinks for the road, and there were still a few beers on the minibus!)

I spent most of Easter week cleaning the bathroom from top to bottom... I had unfortunately omitted to clean all the grout from the wall tiles when they were put in place, and it was a bloody nightmare to get the stuff off. A few other jobs round the house got done when I had the few days off work, and the back garden is all but fenced in now, which tidies the place up no end. Hopefully there will be a bathroom cabinet in place soon, with a proper mirror, so I can stop relying on the little 6" circular shaving mirror that is perched on my washhand basin! The few little bits of artwork I have managed to beg borrow or steal from my brother have found wallspace, and the house generally looks more warm and inviting... well, bits of it do anyway!

There's still a heck of a lot of stuff to do, but I'll get there yet...

I told you it was dull... but then, no-one ever reads this anyway...

Hi

Just had to say someone has stopped by and read it. smiley - ok

Was going through H2G2 post, when I came across your name, and it intreaged me so had to have a look at your page, I am still quite a newbie, and keep finding myself in lots of interesting places.

Hope you manage to evict your unwanted lodgers, but in the most humane way possible.

I imagine the Bride to be was glad you managed to find the "stag".

It sounds as though you had a busy Easter.

Nasty thing grout, almost as bad as Artex, that took me ages to get off the ceiling.

Is the fence to keep the mice in or out?. smiley - smiley

I'll keep an eye out for the next installment.

Hi

I didn't think I posted enough outside my own space to be noticed smiley - smiley Now I'll have to try to do something more interesting to write about!

I'm not really a newbie, in fact I think I joined on day 1 of H2G2, but I am a rather infrequent visitor, so don't say a lot...

I haven't had any 'wee visitors' for a few weeks. I think the last one was only trying to get in from the rain, bless him/her/it... I might get a cat (as long as I can find one to sign a 'no using the leather sofa as a scratching post' contract smiley - winkeye)

Yes, the bride-to-be... well, she was sending text messages to my phone at about 3am saying "Wedding's off", but we know she really didn't mean it... well, we know that now... at the time I had a moment of doubt smiley - smiley

Rhyming with 'doubt', I never want to see tile grout ever again... it would have been an easier job if I had tackled it just after the tiles were put up, but I was far too lazy... Like most of life's lessons, I learned that one too late. I think all my friends and family are getting a lot of evil enjoyment out of watching me try to manage a house single handed...

The fence is more to make my back garden look a bit tidier than to repel hostile invaders.

As for the next installment... I have (foolishly?) invited some friends round at the weekend, so that will either be a disaster or a triumph, and will almost certainly give me something to write about next week!

Hi

smiley - sorry I did not mean I thought you were a newbie as well. I had gone into the post, and from there found myself in H2G2 OAP's, where I saw your name and noticed that you had joined on day one.

Glad lodgers seem to have gone, smiley - smiley I have a cat, do not know whether she frightens mice off or not, have never seen any in the house. I know what you mean about the furniture, she has a scratch post, but knows she gets our attention if she uses the setee instead.

Have a nice weekend

I didn't mean to imply that you implied that you thought I was a newbie... er, or something like that smiley - smiley I have a bad habit of forgetting that the emphasis I put on words in my head does not always translate through my fingers and keyboard into text on the screen! smiley - biggrin

I checked the attic last night, and there is no sign of any visitors (the traps were empty and unsprung) So far, the little blighters have stayed in the attic, which I can just about live with. However, that's nothing compared with the story I heard in work on Tuesday... It's so good, I think I'll put it in my journal... smiley - smiley

Hi smiley - smiley

After reading your next journal entry, I think I would be a little worried about the smiley - mousesmiley - mouse. a friend of mine used to keep a snake and that's what he fed it, I shudder at the thought, snakes are not one of my favourite creatures.

That poor man at his computer, what a shock, I'll bet he will be afraid to fall asleep there again.

Hi smiley - smiley

How's it going on the smiley - mouse front, all clear, or like the song about the Windmill in old Amsterdam.

Have you managed to finish getting the unwanted grout off the tiles, and mirror put up.

I have been very lax at keeping this all up to date, haven't I? smiley - smiley

So far, no more smiley - mousesmiley - esuom, but I think there is probably more for them to do of a summer evening than run around in my attic. I may be mouse-free until the winter again, fingers crossed smiley - ok

The grout is gone, the tiles are sparkling, and I have even begun to regain some of the feeling in my arms smiley - smiley The bathroom cabinet is up, and I can now see myself in all my nightmarish horror as I shave! smiley - monster Not a pleasant sight first thing in the morning!

I think I said that I was having some friends round... I spent a fortune on drink, trying to make sure I had everyone's favourite tipple available, but they brought their own... smiley - alesmiley - bubblysmiley - redwinesmiley - stiffdrink (Never mind though, I made good use of it smiley - drunk) I considered trying to cook something, but luckily for them, they had already been to a barbecue that afternoon... I think I got off easy...

I'm pottering around these days looking at bits of occasional furniture (in other words, sometimes it's furniture, at other times it's a place to keep junk off the floor!) I may even get curtains for the windows some of these days!

I would love a few days off work, but I'll have to wait until next month for that. Meanwhile, I might just watch the footy and try not to worry about anything for a few weeks... smiley - zen
