Hi Raver

Thanks for the welcome and you can be sure I'll stick around. It's a fantastic site and a credit to all who contribute.

One quick query: If I join a conversation, will my comments appear in as an entry in their own right? I am writing a reply to someone and it is turning into a rather epic description of my area of London. I'd like it to register on the search engine, but also I'd like the people in the conversation to be aware of its posting. Can you let me know - when you have time - how to proceed.

I look forward to getting to know and helping to grow this community.

Best wishes

Hello PeskieMinx.
All you write in the fora is permanent.
All the people who have written in the same fora will get the thread refreshed on their page, and will have the opportunity to answer.
The thread you are talking about, if you could give me the url {here} I will check it out to see who you have been conversing with.
In your postings, you could mention that you are a "newbie" {as we affectionately call new researchers}. You can invite people to your personal space for a discussion. You can write a "Journal Entry" about any subject you like. If you choose to write a Guide Entry for h2g2, then you must adhere to the writing guidelines. Otherwise, just stick to the rules & regulations! Chatting in the fora will earn you many friends. As far as the search engine goes, if for example you were to enter "London", an infinite number of results would be located, but your thread would be in there somewhere.
If you were to search for something more unusual, like "Suffragettes", then you would get less "hits", but more chance of finding your discussion.
The threads you contribute to will be permanently recorded on your personal space. Every time someone else {or yourself} posts to it, it will be refreshed on your page.
Only journal entries can be deleted, as well as unwanted Guide Entries {only before they have been edited}.
I hope this helps, believe me, you will get used to h2g2.
I found it daunting at first, but I soon got used to it & now I can't imagine my life without it.smiley - smiley
If you wish to post something to Douglas Adams page, please do so here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A5932smiley - blue
We are all shocked and saddened by his untimely passing.
Thanks for joining us, and I hope to see you around the guide.
Any more questions, just ask.smiley - smiley

Make sure you post it in the correct format!
And don't forget to post an url to your entry on the first post...
I also recommend that you post the url to the Peer Review posting, at your entry itself {for your own reference}.
It's hard to find one thread at Peer Review amongst the many others.smiley - bigeyes
Good Luck!smiley - smiley
