The Red Badge of Courage is one of my favorite books, although I haven't read anything else by Crane. Any suggestions?

Hi! I love Stephen Crane poetry, but not the kind you have to learn in school - school taught The Red Badge of Courage, The Open Boat and for poetry War is Kind and a few other more well known poems.

I have a copy of "The Collected Poems of Stephen Crane" - both of the volumes published while he was alive (The Black Riders and Other Lines, War is Kind and Other Lines), and 3 lost poems published in the 1920's.

Here is another of my favorites:

Once there came a man
Who said,
"Range me all men of the world in rows."
And instantly
There was terrific clamour among the people
Against being ranged in rows.
There was a loud quarrel, world-wide.
It endured for ages;
And blood was shed
By those who would not stand in rows,
And by those who pined to stand in rows.
Eventually, the man went to death, weeping.
And those who stayed in bloody scuffle
Knew not the great simplicity.

After all, in death we do all end up in rows (but I suppose you already realized that, sorry). Thanks for the tips, I'll have to get down to the bookstore.

and I shall go down to the library - I'm not usually taken by poetry, c, but your Crane fellow is something different.
