A Conversation for The 'His Dark Materials' Trilogy by Phillip Pullman

I'm sure that I read somewhere (probably in Empire) that discussions are well under way for making a film version of the trilogy (due to the success of LOTR, Harry Potter). I'm ambivalent about this (partly cos I wish I'd had the chance to get there first!)- reckon it would do better as one of those old style BBC sunday teatime series like The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe- as long as whoever transferres it to screen gives it the budget and imagination it deserves, I guess. I'd be a bit worried about a lot of the philosophical issues being skimmed over...

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
