Hello!
Was just writing to you to say hi, but was also wondering about Ask h2g2: is it possible for 360 to have a similar site i.e. a general forum devoted to the 360 aims, yet ones that don't quite fit into any established article?

Good idea - and we will have one when the site has finished being redesigned (to be more accurate, it's being made better-looking). We've got a discussion forum at the bottom of 'About Us' which is supposed to do that kind of thing but ended up as a discussion on the Golden Jubilee and the Astrology of countries (topic drift, here? never!)
And there's a 'can we help?' bit on Holistic health...
I think the new skin will be aired in about two weeks' time.
Nice of you to drop by anyway!

No Problem: like your piccie!
Thats a bit of a bummer: I really like the stark white skin
I think it would also a good extension of the synergy I talked about in my piece, because solutions can sometimes be better found by coming together collabaratively(?) rather than through other people's work.

I really like the skin too...but I think you'll be agreeably surprised when you see the new one. It's just much easier to navigate for a start.
And I think it's really important to discuss things (you're great by the way!) so I'm pretty sure that will get a priority.
Have a great trip...

Hello again!
Thought I might help... or hinder and have created 'Ask 360' at A798807, tell me what you think: what changes need to be made or if you want a complete overhaul....

Already spotted it Good idea - v. helpful. Actually, I thought I'd already posted on it. But then the brain does tend to dissolve over the weekend....bliss!
Except that Blockbuster had run out of Chubby Hubby ice cream which is a total outrage.

Well not for long anyways! You best not be ignoring me!
I was wondering if you could help me with a query...you know the poem on my p.s., would there be any issues if I put it in a competition, even though I put it here first?

I would never ignore you. Lose you in the morass of stuff that needs to be done here, yes but ignore you, no!
Copyright. No problem. The rule here is that you and the BBC have shared copyright so you can do what you like with your poem. Good luck!
I'll try to remember to promote your 360 general page on the h2g2 post on Wednesday. And I can direct people there when they join...
There's a lot to do! No moaning but some staff on this site would be nice!!
Would you be willing to buddy up with the Prof? He needs help putting all his stuff into guide html and general guidance on the site. He currently wants me to save the world and I'll do my best but I've only got a couple of hours on Thursday this week !!!

It's just on the off chance: ive wanted to enter one for a while, but don't have creative sparks very often...so I thought what the heck!
Will also add it to my name later on as well.
I'll help the Professor if he'd like: he seems a nice guy, but I think he is getting frustrated, forgetting that this is still a baby site. I may need some direction from you on occassion, but I'm sure you'll give it

Hello again
I need you to say lots of nice things, like you are so good at doing: I've get the results of a second job interview today, and am a little nervous :-|

Yes of course I'll help you with the Prof. So will Ashley and Sam (though as you may have noticed they're really busy with H2G2 and don't get around here much at the moment).
It IS a baby site. We need staff really but Richard and I are pushing where we can to get it to grow. H2G2 took a good year with Douglas around and plenty of publicity and we're only eight months old.
What's the job? It's funny how these things work out. Bernadette on Holistic Health didn't get what she regarded as the prefect job - and it was one she 'should' have got. She was really hacked off...but three weeks later the REAL perfect job turned up and she walked it. Had she got the other one she couldn't have applied.
Nauseating when you actually want something, but it generally works out to be true.

Is there the possibility of getting more staff?
It's a youth working job. I've done voluntary work with special needs young people [13-25] for almost five years, but I wanted a complete change in direction. I've applied for a youth group working with Asylum seekers/ refugees, but i'll get paid for it!
It wont be easy, because they dont speak much English, so I might have to learn Kurdish or Albanian! Trust may also be a problem, because having had your parents murdered in front of you, and coming to a country on your own, isn't going to make you trust the first person who walks in the door! Having said this, I'm determined to do it, and think im capable of doing it, but we'll just have to wait and see... I may even volunteer there anyways, if I dont get it: itd just be nice to get paid for it!

A gentle touch on the shoulder, eye contact and the ability to listen will always do wonders if someone's in pain.
I once went on a course where you had to learn to listen. Which meant really listen as opposed to interpreting what was said into your own mind-set. You had to repeat back the exact words the person had said to you because they then knew that they truly had been heard. It was extraordinarily different.
I would imagine it works even if you don't understand more than one word in five. When I travelled in China and South America I found that eye-contact, stillness and listening (even when I didn't understand a word) did most of the job. Then the other person got it out at least - and that alone is worth a lot.
360 - take a look at A821233 to see one of the things we are plotting....
More staff? Hmmm...first we need a budget! I'll pop round and talk later!

I'll keep those in mind
But having said this, the group has been running [without me] for eight months already, without a budget, so no official leaders. The head guy at the centre taught them some english, and then off their own backs, they read some law books, so that when he took them to look round the houses of parliament, they asked why their treatment since they had arrived was allowed to occur, esp. since it was transgressing the UN humans rights act. Which would explain why they now have funding.
I want this job :-|
Talk later, will look at the site.

Wow! That's a 360 article in itself! No wonder you want the job. Why isn't there a smiley for 'fingers crossed'?

To be part of a such a dynamic group of people would be fantastic, but it's not gonna be easy!
I think it's a challenge, one that I really want to undertake. Having said this, I've just got back from going swimming, and I'm asleep on my feet!
I'll find out tonight, or rather my parents will, because I'll be at work. Either way will tell you tonight/tomorrow morning!

I don't think I've got it: as I haven't heard yet. But don't worry, I was looking for other jobs, and might do some ancilliary work with special needs children at a local school. We'll wait and see! Was feeling a bit yesterday, as it was just waiting, but am OK now: the Professor cheered me up unknowingly
