Yes, it's definitely spooky. Even more so if it shows a good friend who only died last week.

Ah but as a techie, that I can understand; when my computers boot up they log me in to all sorts of things automatically. Several years later is another matter.
I really wish they wouldn't do this to me...

That's not the reason. The who's online list has been totally unusable for weeks now. No program on my PC is set to autostart, and yet I'm shown online when I am not signed in. As are friends who died years ago.
