Hello, I'm Zathras and I am an Assistant Community Editor (ACE), and I'd like to welcome you to h2g2!
Is the name Tegan a Dr Who reference?
Anyway apart from being an official nice bloke (as an ACE) I am also a science fiction fan. (Mind you I'm quite fond of some Fantasy as well)
If you are finding H2G2 a bit confusing and bewildering (I know I did at first) there are lots of options to get help.
For now, if you need any help either click the help button to get access to the help documentation or, if you prefer a more human(?) face simply reply to this message - I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
If you're planning to dive straight in that is great (the life of H2G2 is its researchers)- but before you start writing articles you may want to check out http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/GuideML-Clinic
It's an introduction to GuideML, which is a Markup Language (like HTML) we use in the Guide. It's very easy to use, and makes Guide entries look much better.
Remember if you need help or just want to have a chat, feel free to reply to this message.

Hey Zathras, thanks for the welcome - really, really!
Also, thanks very much for asking, my actual given (by my so-erudite mother 44 years ago) name is Tegan. I was a fan of Dr. Who when our PBS station ran the series here 'way back in Nineteen Ought Eighty Something (I think? Couldn'ta been the '70s, could it?), and I started with Tom Baker (right? The Scarf Doctor?), and was thoroughly hooked when all of the sudden they added a character with MY NAME!!! Un-bleepin-believable. LOVED IT. It was the first time I'd encountered someone else, even fictionally, with my name. How common is it in England, do ya know?
I just went and changed my personal info in "My Space" to be a little more forthcoming. Your fault, if it's a bit verbose. As I now mention there, I do enjoy messing around with computers, so I probably will try to master the GuideML eventually. Fer sher before I try my first Guide Entry.
Thanks again for the welcome and the tips,
Tegan

Tom Baker was indeed the Doctor with the Scarf. (He was my first Doctor as well although I can't remember much about him from the first time round as I was pretty young at the time) Closely followed by Peter Davison (who had Tegan as an assistant).
Can't say I've ever met anyone in Britain called Tegan, however IIRC the character was supposed to be Australian so perhaps it is a common name there.
A verbose personal space is good because people passing will then find out things about you and be able to have a chat.
