Frink finally snaps as people keep posting in his newsletter forum...

The lifestyle's fine, if a little hectic... I'm trying to get a spot at a radio station (nothing big - community) and I'm finding writing jokes to be tough.

Tell me about it. I've been told I'm funny, but only in a situational manner. Every time I've tried to write something funny it ends up in disaster.

I react funny, but I don't create funny.

There's nothing worse than being told you're funny. What're you s'posed to say? "Yes, yes I am" "No, I'm not" or capitalise and say something like "No, but the trout on your shoulder is". I never have figured it out.

What is it with this observational humour?

Well, I would suggest it's worse when you think you are funny and someone tells you that you aren't, and then everyone else in the bar agrees, and then you fall down trying punch the guy out, and you hit your head on a pool cue, and it pokes your eye out, and some other guy picks up your eye and runs off with it, and..........

Er........

Sounds like the horrible spectre of personal experience looms...

Yes, and I still have that guy's eye!

PS, Frink, any tips on how to find New researchers to greet?

Keep one eye on the "who's online" popup window at all times. Pounce on new researchers quickly, because there are so many ACEs now that you usually don't have much time to strike first.

Alternately, there are some researchers that get missed.........sometimes I look in the popup window for any researcher with a high user number, and visit a whole bunch to see if anyone was missed.

Unfortunately this takes more time than I usually have available........
