A Conversation for Field Marshal General Erwin Rommel - the Desert Fox
Allied Invasion in Greece

The Allied Invasion of Greece did materialised in 1944. It was quite unimportant. Some British Divisions landed there, getting a part in the many-parties-war between some german, bulgarian, democratic greek and communist greek troops.
There were serious assaults from "the soft underbelly of Europe" (W. Churchill) towards Germany, but at least Greece was saved from the "liberating" Red Army.

Churchills memoirs go into a good bit of detail about this time - apparently even Churchill himself went through athens when it was in the midst of a war to start the negotiations off.
