Doing nothing
Ormondroyd Posted May 24, 2001
I've been rather busy, but I hope to get back to it over the weekend. Suggestions for further sections are welcome.

I like it. I'm from Bradford too, and the only thing I would say is you make no mention of Pace Micro Technology. Everything you have included is comprehensive enough. A lot of things people write about their local areas are very dull, but this isn't.

Thank you, Demonica! I must admit that TIMELORD had a point: I threatened to do this Entry for ages, started it, then got distracted for some weeks. But I have added a few lines to it today and I can honestly say that I was in the Central Library today doing some more research for it! I'm going to finish the Famous Bradfordians bit with some more on Delius and something about the education reformer after whom Forster Square is named. After that I guess I'll go on to places to go in Bradford. My new goal is to finish the Entry in time for the Northern h2g2 meet on August 4.
I must admit, though, that I'm not sure what you mean by Pace Micro Technology. Was that the new-technology factory at Saltaire that closed recently? Pardon my ignorance, but if you think it's important then I'd be glad if you'd explain it.

Ormondroyd Posted Jun 12, 2001
Yeah, TIMELORD, I do need to get the Independent Labour Party bit in. But WHICH actors and actresses? The only ones I know of are George Layton out of "It Ain't Half Hot Mum" and Heather Peace from "London's Burning"! Do you know of anyone else?

New technology that closed recently?? I know they recently laid off (or are about to lay off) a fair few people in assembly, but Pace is still going strong. I got cable fitted on Friday, and my lovely new digital TV box is made by Pace. They're still very much there - based in Salts Mill in Saltaire. Or is Saltaire too far away from the centre to be included (I don't mean that sarcastically in case you thought it sounded that way)? For more info, I'm sure their website will tell you more. Except I can't post URLs can I? Well, you can guess it - their name is PACE and they're in the UK.
And my dad works there

Thanks for that, Demonica! I'm glad to hear that PACE is still with us and that your Dad still has his job, but I don't think I can start mentioning specific companies based in Bradford. If I put one of them in, I'd have to include them all!
But I have added more to the Famous Bradfordians bit tonight, will add more later (more on Forster and something on Margaret McMillan) - and I'd be grateful for any suggestions as to what to do after that. I'm definitely planning to add more on where to go in Bradford, so if you can think of anywhere that should be included in that, please tell me!

I've done a lot more work on the Bradford Entry this week, and - dare I say it - I think it's getting close to completion! Your comments would be appreciated...
Mission accomplished?
Ormondroyd Posted Jul 27, 2001
Well (deep breath) I now think that the Bradford Entry is finally finished!
I'll be re-reading the thing and trying to think of anything important that I've left out over the next few days. I am deliberately not going into Bradford commercial organisations, clubs or specialist music venues, essentially because if I included one, I'd have to include lots.
If anyone can think of any useful changes, suggestions will be gratefully received. I'm thinking in terms of submitting the Entry to Peer Review some time the week after next, just to allow a little more time for the memories of the riots to fade. Hopefully, if a month passes by with no more bad news from Bradford, the idea of going there might once again start to seem like a realistic possibility to people from elsewhere!
Mission accomplished?
TIMELORD Posted Jul 28, 2001
ITS RUBBISH!
No it is a great piece well writen and well thought out.
Bits to add maybe something about Joe Johnson and Richard Dunn* in the sporting piece other than that i can't think of much.
*He was untill frank bruno the only british heavyweight boxer to go 5 rounds in a title fight in the last century.

Is it to late to get something in about Bradford city being top of the league????
Mission accomplished ! (official)
Ormondroyd Posted Aug 19, 2001
I am beginning to dream of contacting h2g2 next year with an update to the Entry, telling the story of City's triumphant return to the Premiership!
