Your quote at the end does summarise very well what it is to be a Christian, but I think your definition falls short.
Loving something with ALL your "heart, soul and mind" to me indicates that you should be willing to die for that thing. I think that's a fairly good test of if you are a Christian - if you'd rather die than to turn against your beliefs.

I'm pretty sure that being prepared to die for your belief doesnt make you a Christian - you might be prepared to die for the belief that red is green or that dogs deserve the same rights as humans or anything else, come to that. Being prepared to die rather than see Jesus's name dishonoured would be a fairly strong clue though!
Actually I think that the definition of a Christian is more like: someone who has been through what the bible calls being "born again" and simply means that he/she has accepted the gift of forgiveness offered by God in exchange for giving Him (God) absolute rights over his/her life. There's a whole bunch of stuff that is implied by this transaction - including a life long education in the art of living a liberated and Godly lifestyle - which is a great trick if you can master it because it means that life suddenly becomes worthwhile.
Another possible definition of "Christian" is someone who is a friend and disciple of Jesus.

Sorry for a few things:
1 - having a complicated name - it should look like RESEARCHER ALEX in a mirror... maybe I should just stick to X3JA
2 - not having any info on my homepage
3 - not replying to this until now
Anyway... 2 of 3 are sorted now

Hopefully you'll be speaking to us more often now?
So you would define yourself as a Christian? I'm currently not, but I'm sort of looking into it and would like someone like yourself to talk to if I have any questions.
My first question is what would you say were the core teachings of Christianity? The things that all Christians agree on, regardless of what little division between groups they belong to.
(by the way, you have to make your U-number add up to 42 using the numbers in the order they appear)

There is more to being a Chritsian than following the quoted verse from Matthew's gospel. Accepting Christ as your personal Saviour is part of it too.
Catwoman, do you still have questions? If you do, don't be afraid to ask me.
