About posting 4137 on Back Again
Sorry, but I just have to ask,
"I Tried - Mull Historical Society" : Is that really a song? You didn't just make it up did you?
This is a strangely addictive thread which I just can't stay away from now but just sometimes posts worry me for some reason. Tell me it was genuine.
By the way, I loved your home introduction page thingy.

Thanks! I'm a bit addicted as well.
Ok, Mull Historical Society are a real band from Mull in Scotland. They recently supported the Strokes and Moldy Peaches on tour, and the video for 'I Tried' had a sheep in it, a pun on the words "You you you" ("Ewe ewe ewe") in the lyrics. They're actually quite good in a charming Scottish indie way. Hope that's a help.

Well, thanks for that.
Sorry for ever doubting ewe (this is a somewhat sheepish reply which you can lambast me for later).
I woold never have believed that band's name.
I do like the sound of them if they make videos like that. I bet people flock to see them!

*groans*
How long did it take you to come up with that? Not long, I expect (although I congratulate you for the 'lambast', I wouldn't have thought of that).
They're website's [URL removed by moderator].com I think (or co.uk, I'm not sure). They've got a new single coming out in a few weeks (something about animals again...)

i saw da Mull on Thursday with the Strokes & the Moldy Peaches. I though the Mull were a bit er dull really. I saw their video on TV the other day it wasn't good either. They seem to be trying to be lots of 2nd rate indie bands all at once (esp. the verve)

I think compared to the Strokes and the Moldy Peaches then anyone (except King Adora, of course) would be dull. They are like a lot of other bands, but you have to get them in the right setting, ie. listen to them on Walkman in the Scottish countryside, sing along and they're a lot better. And they don't really have a big video budget... They are one of those bands that are dull live because their songs aren't big exciting loud numbers; the same reason Coldplay and Starsailor are boring live (God, no one is more boring than Starsailor...)

That was a serious conspiracy. It's NME: they pick one band a year and do blanket coverage (constant praise-heaping live reviews, constant news pieces, front covers, 'Best New Hope' awards etc.) then say "Look how good we are at spotting new talent! We found Starsailor when they were tiny and look how huge they are now! Talent will out!" In fact, it's media coverage that's put them there, just so NME can look good. Grrrrrrr . I ranted about that in a fanzine article actually...

Oh yeah, and the MHS address that got removed is just the band name (no spaces) plus .com. Evil moderators!

Oh, just as a little post script to this conversation, one of my best mates Ross Clark (formerly of Cinefilm) just joined Mull Historical Society as their new guitarist and started their UK tour yesterday
