I am going to have to change my number to a name. Or find myself a little identifier symbol so you will know that it was me.

Astrid Posted Jul 29, 1999
What are all these different places? I mean, I have a journal and user pages, and forums, and conversation.
Does each have their own purpose? How do you "submit" an article?

How is that for a signature picture thing?
sigh...I will work on it.
What is all this about fish and smileys?
Astrid Posted Jul 29, 1999
Next, I guess I have to work on the fish thing.
Any hints?
So a fish!!
Bruce Posted Jul 29, 1999
for more info on smileys & coloured fishies whip on over to Madmonks house at http://www.h2g2.com/U27618.
User pages are your font(home) page & other pages linked to at the bottom of your home page. User pages can contain html/xml. Forums can't. User pages have a submit to the guide button when you are editing them.
Journal entries are like a diary & are listed on your home page - they can't have html/xml either.
Forums are discussions attached to user pages/guide entries or journal entries of yours or other peoples where you have posted.
;^)# - I think
Oh NO!!!
Astrid Posted Jul 29, 1999
Don't tell me that there is another markup language to learn... What is xml?
Oh NO!!!
Bruce Posted Jul 29, 1999
Don't Panic!
Here's a quote from Jim Lynn @ TDV
"OK, here's a hint - our pages are actually in XML, which is a more rigorous
superset of HTML.
To fix your page, you should make sure of these things:
1: Close all tags
2: Any parameters in tags must be surrounded by double quotes.
3: Any tags which are 'empty' - like BR or IMG should have a trailing /
before the closing bracket."
Jim also posted some info about where the html/xml thing is heading in the future here

Hope it helps.

PS my preview button tells me that link may result in a strange looking screen - but its the only way I know of getting you staright there without having to wade through a long forum.
Oh NO!!!
Bruce Posted Jul 29, 1999
Yep I ( & the preview button) were right - it'll bypass the frames - just hit the back button to get bach here with the screen reset normally.
