My facebook account has been locked by facebook... This is probably connected with a weird spam Email I got earlier, but which I deleted without opening... I can't do either of the online re-activation steps, and the only alternative they seem to offer is for me to scan in a copy of my passport... naa I don't think facebook really bothers me enough to randomly send them a scanned in copy of that... hmmm... unless I can get any sense out of them anyhow...

They want your passport? Tell them to get stuffed with sage and onion and just a hint of bacon.

well, the first Email, which was obviously* spam/pishing one, basically said something like:
'recipt for your credit card payment of £130 to facebook to buy credits for something.....'
as I've never used my credit card on facebook (huh I didn't know you could...), its clearly not mycredit card; the Email incorrectly gave my credit card as being a Visa... don't have one of those....

Ther ewas a link in the Email, which would, Iguess be the link to take me to a page to either get me to input data, so they could steal it, or just to infect with virus etc...

so I just deleted that one....

the next email was a bonified facebook one, as again I didn't follow any links from it; instead going to facebook by the link in my bookmarks, and from there saw my account was suspended, due to suspescious activity....

to re-activate the account, neither online method I can do... so I went through the facebook help pages

and then Emailed htem....

which is where they want a scanned in jpg of some form of photo ID; which in my case would have to be a passport... I may have to do it... there are occasionally things I might need to use facebook for; like recently this music competition I was involved in was sort of organised through facebook... organised very badly mind

I am frequently having such emails when accessing facebook from an IP they don't 'know'. Fortunately, I once set a 'secret question', or else I'd have to look through photos of friends of friends, whom I don't know! - and tell them who they are.

I don't seem to have set a secret question... as when tryign that* option, the question I'm given is 'what are the last X digits of your driving licence number'..... strangely, I don't have a driving licence and can't do the identify pictures of friends thing... I may try scan in a copy of my passport, and re-activate the account that way, but then quite possibly think about closing down my facebook page, Its not like I hardly ever use it anyhow...

I walked into, several years ago, a car/van rental shop.

They asked me, without hint of satire or synical intination.... to see my driving licence

I had to explain, though I was paying, as the van was for my benifit, I wouldn't, actually, be doing the driving myself, hence why my friend with me, had bought his licence...

I seem to recall that I chose the secret question myself, as those suggested were too unspecific. But I may err. I guess you could open another account? Or just wait until they unlock this one?

As far as I understand its locked until such time as I provide evidence that I am who I say I am... and that its my account; I can't log in, or anything until such time as I've done that...

I'm not sure about opening another account, could I do that with teh same name, and Email address as an account which already exists? as I say I'd probably not bother anyhow, this music competition I've won, to have a sogn released on album, and stuff I'm so pished off with,as the people organising it are so disorganised, that I'm really not bothered to get any royalities, or weather my song is used or not, its like accademic work, and working with accademics, I can't do that, as I really can't put up with the total idiots who you have to deal with in order to do it, and the music compeition, and release of the album, was aobut the only useful thing which I've done/organised through facebook...
