h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

This journal entry follows on from http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/F64224?thread=5665323&show=20&skip=0#p66029861 Well I had arrived at Hull and settled in for the night. Saturday morning I got up around 0800 and had a cuppa . Some time later on I decided to go for a smoke and afterwards had a chat with the girl behind reception, who'd been on duty when I checked in. After a bit she asked me what I was there for and after explaining she told me that some others had arrived and were in the restaurant. Wandering the restaurant I spotted MMF and thought he looked familiar but decided I'd better check the whole restaurant and also nip to the loo. After this little excursion I returned to, what turned out to be, table 42 where Tabitca recognised me. I got the various introductions done and sat and chatted until Galaxy Babe arrived whence upon I was introduced one more and we talked about many, many fine things whilst waiting for others to arrive. After a short while Lil, VV, Prof and Pete arrived and I went off to say hi. It was while talking to Prof that VV appeared behind and gave me a , I didn't really want to let go, but it would have made going to the toilet rather awkward so I released her...eventually. VV and myself went outside where we decided to have a smoke and VV had a minor panic when she thought she'd left her room key in her room. Lil and Pete turned up shortly there after and we made our way to join back up with those who'd remained at the table. I finally got myself a h2g2 t-shirt and MMF gave everyone waterproof ponchos from Kew, there was also much chocolate and sweets to be had. At this time ST arrived and anounced that he'd been told, on arrival, that his dad, Prof, had already checked in. A card and gifts, for it is Tabitca's birthday at the end of the month, then appeared and the card was signed by all present. It was not long thereafter, as I went outside for a smoke, that the penultimate arrivals turned up in the form of Moonhogg, Mrs Moonhogg, Kitty and Cheeky Monkey. After I returned from my little expedition I said hi to Hoggy and pointed out that I live not far from where he and his family go on holiday in Scotland. I returned to my seat and a few minutes later glanced around and got quite a shock as a small face appeared from beneath the table, I nearly did something my mother had taken great pains to teach me not to do when I was a baby. All too soon Tabitca had to leave to get home and not too long thereafter the Moonhogg family left to take the girls home, but Hoggy and Mrs Hoggy returned for the meal. Upon returning to the restaurant later Hoggy and Mrs Hoggy were sat back where we had been waiting before. a short while later a waitress turned up and, after much discussion and running back and forth it was discovered that we weren't sitting there, but rather up some stairs in a raised part. As ST, Prof, Hoggy, Mrs Hoggy and myself made our way there we met MMF, GB, Scorpio Witch and Gnomon, who had arrived since we all left to get ready for the meal. When most of us had arrived we sat ourselves down and just waited for the last person to finally turn up. Needless to say this person was female but, as I've no wish to embarrass VV too much in this journal, I shan't say who it was, but her mother was the last person to turn up before her, so we know where she gets it from. After a rather good meal we all put our monies in the pot so that it could be paid for and those of us who partake went outside for to enjoy the fresh air and the interesting ways in which it interacts with burning tobacco. Much fun was had by all. GB left first as she wasn't feeling too well, it seemed the wine she'd shared with VV didn't agree with her. As the night wore on more people gradually left until there was just myself, Prof, MMF, Scorp, VV and, I think, ST. Then VV decided she needed to go to bed and I decided I probably should too, so we made our way to our respective rooms. Next morning it became apparent that VV had somehow hurt her leg. Oh it doesn't have to be posh, many of my pens are quite cheap.

Actually I have some quite nice non-expensive pens.

Oh I've got some cheap ones too. In fact one of the cheapest is an old 1960s Sheaffer Skripsert, there is nothing even remotely non-cheap about this pen, however it's also one of the nicest to write with.
