one of my favourite Dutch cartoonist / illustrator died age 92.

he published in 2 forms as cartoon book and as a story with illustrations. he created new words in the Dutch language. one of his book was made into movie. his stories had many charractors, but Lord Olivier B. Bommel (a beer) and Tom Poes (a cat) are most famous.

he was not publishing for a long time. he lived in Ireland for long time and loved it, recently he moved back to the Netherlands, because his poor health.

I will miss. he is in better place.

I just been reading Dutch teletext. I said he was 92 he is 93.

he never found himself writer / cartoonist / illustrator, but a storyteller where his writing and illustrations were helping him to tell.

something I did not tell, but is very important to me!
...for Dutch language at school we read literature. on my list was Marten Toonder, because of I got extra points for being orginal. it probibly made me get diploma.
