there is American festival this week. I will attend one discussion, two concerts.
* the discussion is wonderful original about the US elections. Laurie Anderson will be one of guests.
* the first of the Laurie Anderson concerts will be with a Dutch symphony orchestra preforming Laurie Anderson / Arvo Pärt "Fratres", Laurie Anderson / Dennis Russel Davies' "Amelia Earhart" and other American composers.
* the second of the Laurie Anderson concerts will be part of her "Homeland" tour.
special guest will be Laurie's husband Lou Reed.

I'm a long-term fan
Must have been a good experience. Did she seem as intelligent as she is on her records etc.?

smaller is length...
yesterday's concert was very intresting. not fan of contemporary classical music. too fragmented.
the 2 Laurie Anderson performances.
the Arvo Pärt (music) "Fratres" / Laurie Anderson (songtext):
- "requiem for my brothers + sisters"
a piece for violins and cellos with dark requiem Laurie Anderson style. reminds me of Laurie Anderson's "life on a string" cd.
Laurie Anderson/Dennis Russel Davies:
- "Amelia Earhart"
Laurie Anderson style reading of "Amelia Earhart" diary.

How I would have loved that concert! A version of Arvo Part's Fratres too! Love his music.

Great video accompanying his music (NOT for pheloxi!) Beautiful, peaceful music. I must admit I'm a classical music lover anyway.

she is a storyteller...in way she modern troubadour...

Jabberwock Posted Nov 3, 2008
Those too. Troubadours sang lyrics as rhetorical, musical, and poetical fiction, (Wikepedia), which just about covers it:
rhetorical - dealing with down to earth political problems and problems of living, in broadly fictional terms.
musical
poetical
fictional - stories.
All in the one lyric. Laurie Anderson's work is very similar.
