I knew he had passed on, after all the promotional stuff about the new Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy Movie, but I never knew how he died till I read the Salmon of Doubt Recently.

I too, wish I had been a fan while he was still alive. Or even to have lived in the time he lived. With The Beatles,Monty Python, and Dr Who. What a fabulous time that must have been. I'm sorry to have missed it, but I am grateful that I am still able to enjoy all these things, years after they occured.

Thankyou.

Me too, picked up Salmon of Doubt last week. I originally heard about the Guide from my librarian wife, but somehow never got around to reading it until last year (I know, shame on me), when I found the Complete Guide and devoured it whole. What a marvelous style of writing and humor he had, the type which I feel can only come naturally from the personality. We saw the movie, not realizing he had died. Last week I was seeking any other books or new books he might have published, and thus got the bad news. Perhaps his death wasn't so well announced here in the States.

The galaxy has lost a great writer, and from the reports I'm now reading, a great person.
