I find it rather unfortunate, for me, and for I'm sure a few other people out there, that I didn't even get involved in any of DNA's writings until very near his death. In fact, it was eerily close to his death. I hadn't but just begun the Hitchhiker's Guide when he died. And now that I'm finished reading the HHGTTG series (for the 2nd time), Salmon of Doubt, and Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency (Still waiting on that Long Dark Teatime of the Soul from my friend!) I'm deeply saddened, angered, and frustrated that I couldn't have known his work sooner. Before his death. He would have been a wonderful human being to meet in person. He's a truly remarkable individual, And will be always in the hearts of his truest fans. Us.
Sorry I didn't know you sooner, Douglas. It's my loss...it's our loss.

*nods*
you should listen to the original radio series (it is available on CD), I still rate it as his finest work.

Don't be angered or saddened by his loss be happy and grateful of the work, memories and the marks he left behind.

Good Advice I guess we can all be thankful that he was born
hehehe
I just started reading Long Dark Teatime of the Soul...I'm very pleased I hear it's one of his best books, and after reading Dirk Gently, I can't wait to get this one finished!!

His favourite was apparently 'Last Chance To See' I'm still trying to get my hands on a copy, but, being a student I want to find it cheap!

It's on my Christmas list! I realized that my Christmas list is composed probably 80% of Douglas Adams books--Starship Titanic (book and CD-ROM) Last Chance to See, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, Long Dark Teatime of the Soul, Deeper Meaning of Liff, etc...I've read the two Dirk Gently ones already....Long Dark is a good one!!

I understand how you feel. I had been playing starship titanic right around when he died, and then I read HHGTTG.
As long as you know where your is, though, you should be
!
On starship titanic, I found that it was good to talk to the robots and find out what makes them tick (hint, hint)
Also, if you haven't found it already, here is a not-so-obscure HHGTTG text adventure:

It's fun and brainwracking, and a bit easier when you've read the books. I haven't gotten very far myself, but it is fun.

Could you please keep the caps to a minimum? Thank you.
Hrm, the door to your bedroom? Did you try taking something to calm that headache?

It is the same version as the one my mate had for his palm, and in the same way as starship titanic I think it's going to take me a while!

It's also the most dishonest game I've ever played (as in it lies to you)... you'll see what I mean when you get onto the heart of gold.
Oooh, I'm so happy I solved the babelfish puzzle! Although I admit I needed help on the last step...
