German Cheese

You never see German cheeses.
There are about 85 million people living there. Their country borders onto France, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland and Denmark: all of which produce distinctive cheeses. Yet there is nothing of any note from the Krauts.
Wracking my brains, the only cheese that I can think of that is made in Germany is Cambazola. And that's not a real cheese, it's a mongrel made from introducing the mould from Italian Gorgonzola to French Camembert. Its only claim to German-ness is that that is where the factory is located.

I thought Tilsit was Swiss.
Why should the Germans have to make cheese?

Cambazola is German? Well, heck, learn something new every day.
I don't mind Cambazola myself, though I much prefer Gorgonzola.

Well, I don't expect Germans to make wine either. The fact that they do doesn't mean I have to drink it.
Like other German stuff though, especially sauerkraut. And bratwurst.

You do in Germany! Or at least we did when I was there (some decades ago) all the time at breakfast in sausage form along with the meat-based sausages. Maybe no-one much outside Germany wants to buy their cheeses though.
Having checked a site I pointed out to someone else the other month, it isn't just me seeing the German cheeses either. This site reckons there are German cheeses too:

That's the end of the topic drift. And now back to the TMS team at Trent Bridge for more cricket.

They can still do it
If they win the last test, then the series is tied, and the Ashes go back to Australia.

The Germans may have only few cheeses, but one of them definitely beats the most fancy French variety I could possibly think of
