Sparklers!

Cats? Yes, they're all over my garden. It's 'neutral' territory you see.
I've also had them hiding out in the crawlspace underneath the house, so I have become the first port of call for the neighbours when they lose a cat in the hot weather

Does that cat still try coming into the house? Your reaction to that would not suggest neutral territory....

Was that the almost totally black one? No, that cat has moved on to pastures new with its owners.
I now have two black and white cats from that same house, plus two burmese cats from two doors down trying to get in.
In fact one of the Burmese got trapped for a couple of days in the crawl space under my house when I shut the door to the cupboard under the stairs. The neighbours knocked on the door one evening and said that their cat was missing, and that the lastt place it had been seen was in my garden, so could I go take a look. Well I went straight to the cupboard, opened it and shone a torch down into the depths. And there I saw two ears and two green eyes looking back at me. Mystery solved

upmarket cats these days!
Sounds fun - I still miss having a to welcome me home - not that home is a very constant space these days!

My mother doesn't like the cats of her neighbours - in particular 2 abyssinians who treat her garden as their personal hunting ground. She thinks they resemble small lions and doesn't like their faces or the way they eat her fish, voles, birds, frogs etc. They know she doesn't approve of them because she keeps dashing out and hissing at them. Sometimes they scatter but other times they just skulk until she's out of sight and then carry on hunting. They keep setting off her burglar light at night by patrolling past it, which she also finds annoying as it wakes her up or disturbs her if she's not quite asleep.

Fortunately I've very little in my back yard that the cats can damage or destroy. However the burmese cats when they decide to start yowling (as they are doing right at this moment) sound spookily like a small child crying. It's sending shivers down my spine...

It's heading into silly season with the fireworks now. There have been assorted bangs, whooshes and minor explosions every night for the last couple of weeks.
And right now someone is letting off a load of fireworks even though it's still light outside
