h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I came across these ... there are some beauties, and there are some seriously rare species ... for some it's the first time I've seen a photo of them at all:

There are a few mammals also. Many of these species are here from Africa, but also from all over the world.

I could get lost looking at those photos, there are so many different birds and animals, most of which I have never heard of at all.

My son gave me the DVDs for David Attenborough's series on Planet Earth, made by the BBC, and the film footage of the birds of paradise is just extraordinary. How birds came to evolve to such wild and beautiful creatures in places where there is abundant food and an easy climate is mind blowing.

Wow, those are terrific. This person is a GREAT photographer. I really loved the peacock pheasants ---I'd never heard of them before and they are trully beautiful. I stuck the link in favourites because it's annoying to get back to h2g2 from flicker.

Yep, Willem, that's a tinfoil beret. I was trying to draw one of those beautiful birds. Those are fabulous photos.
