ah yes, i saw the outside of this place it was opposite a very hard bar we quickly went into called brownies which my graphic designer friend who lives in NYC had recommended.
The korova looked closed and derelict to me--is it still open? it was oct/nov 2000 when i saw it.
Inside it do you get your drinks from coin operated manniquin style dispensers? are there NO bar staff? does it look exactly as it does in the film. does anyone have a photo of it?

and does anyone like the moldy peaches...?

Well,

I haven't been there in a little while, so I suppose there's a possibility it's no longer open (but I'm pretty sure it was open in 2000), since New York is often in a rapid state of flux. Still, they were doing rather well it seems. It does look kinda derelict from the outside. On the inside, drinks are served by bartenders, since I think automat style drink dispensers would be a violation of city law. It's not an exact replica of the film (eg, none of the mannequins are used as tables), but it's very much in the spirit.

Jake

Hello,

Drinkland is very nice, but crowded on weekends. It's got a somewhat Mod aesthetic, with three rooms built mostly with salvaged materials (but rather tasteful). I like it, but I haven't been there in a little while. I suppose I could write a funky "Bars of New York City" entry, but that would require a bit of "research" of course. smiley - winkeye

I'm defintiely going to have to head down to Alphabet City one of these summer nights and see for myself if this place is still open.
