GREAT job! I have a couple more "clues" that whoever is interested in this page might like

On the cover of Sgt. Pepper's, a small model of an Aston-Martin is on the Shirley Temple doll's lap. Paul's car wreck was said to have happened in an Aston-Martin. Also, there really is a small Greek island called Leso. It's much too small to show up in any atlases, though.

On the cover of Abbey Road, the clothing worn by the band members is supposed to be significant. John, in white, comes first as an angel. Ringo, in a black suit, is the minister. Paul, of course, is the corpse. And George, in his working clothes, is the undertaker. The fact that Paul is smoking while the others aren't is significant because cigarettes are also known as "death sticks."

I've heard that on one side of the street or the other, back where it's too dark to see clearly, is a cemetery. I don't know if this is true or not. Someone who's been there - Is there really a cemetery there?

And for retroactive clue seekers, the cover of Revolver is also important. Notice that Paul is facing out while the others face forward. Is Paul being "revolved" out of the group, and another revolving in, like chambers in a revolving door?

Also, in case you were really asking, Billy Shears is the lead singer persona of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. The Beatles planned Sgt. Pepper's as a concept album in which the songs were actually sung by the Lonely Hearts Club Band. Hence the wax statues of the Beatles on the cover - the Beatles have come to see one of their favorite groups, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. This is extended into the movie Yellow Submarine, in which the Beatles and Sgt. Pepper's are two distinct bands who look a whole lot like each other.

Some people, however, say that Billy Shears was the winner of a Paul look-alike contest in Edinburgh (?), so when Paul died, the others brought him into the group to minimize plastic sugery expenses and this was their way of "introducing" him to the world.

Part of the reason that the rumour is so widespread is because McCartney took a year off and went into temporary hiding just as it was getting started, so nobody could get a statement from him to prove that he wasn't dead.

Eventually, Life magazine tracked him down (he was allegedly so annoyed that he threw a pail of water at the camera man) and took his picture to prove he was alive. Ironically, some people believe that these pictures were a hoax and that Life was bribed to help spread the delusion that he's alive. One of the pictures of him has a car ad on the other side of the page. When you hold the page up to a bright light, it looks like the car is impaling him.

I'd heard that one too, Q*bert - about the "Life" magazine... I *think* it's true.
One thing I'd like to know is where abouts is "Leso" if it does exist?

I just re-read this article and suddenly I remembered a picture from the Beatles Song Book.
If I'm not completely mistaken the photo shows Paul on a sort of slab with a woman in the background (who to me always a bit like some sort of priestress...). Paul looks asleep (or dead...).
It's been ages since I had a look at the book so I can't describe the picture any better. Sorry!

Does any of you know the photo?? I really have no idea when it was taken or what it's supposed to mean... .
The image just popped up in my head after not thinking of it at all for years... .

Forgive if this seems a bit obvious or if you've already got it (I only skimmed the page), but on the fade to 'Back in the USSR', doesn't John say something along the lines of "Here, take this bass Yoko, Paul won't need it where he's going."

Yeah, you're right. There are so many clues scattered over the Beatles's work...in Strawberry Fields though, at the end John says 'cranberry sauce', not 'I buried Paul'. I've listened to it too many times and have come to that conclusion

i have noticed on sgt pepper album picture that the beatles in suits, 3 of them have shirt and tie and 1 has black polo neck on. i have not read anything that explains this? can someone enlighten me. i am too young to remember the beatles but this whole thing is fasinating to read.

And here I was thinking John was guilty over something with Yoko! But come to think of it...

in that vein i rem remember a photo of paul aul and yoko taken shortly after johnohns death they hy had just signed someome sort of deal and both looked shocked and surprised,,,in,,incidently James Paul McCartney was on tn the birty certificate

There is no cemetery in that part of Abbey Road, just a church a lot further to the North, a long way from where the picture was taken.

Also The Beatles are walking West to East, away from the studio, not East to West as stated in the main article.

Oops Oops, that was my mistake. London Geography isn't my strong point.
