My messages have disappeared
Baron Grim Started conversation Sep 29, 2011
Sometime last week someone noticed that the "Leave a Message" had been turned off on my personal space. Then we noticed that all my previous messages had also disappeared. Lil sent an email about it but I've yet to see my message reappear. F105207?thread=8212297
We are rapidly approaching the great migration and I'd like this to be fixed before that.
Does anyone have an idea what has happened? It's apparently only affecting my personal space.

Hi Count,
I see that we can leave messages again, but that your convos are still all missing!
Can you please say if the convos are in your general convo list? eg can you remember the subject line of any of them and have a look?
I'm afraid it's highly unlikely that anything can be done about this before we move as the techies are all very busy. But what the techs are saying is that the site is being copied, as is, when we move, so we shouldn't lose anything. If your messages are still there now they should be there next week and then one of the techs or italics can sort it out for you
I know that's not totally comforting, but I'll mention it to the Gurus group too.

btw, the link you give above is to one of your journals rather than a PS convo Can you find any of the PS convos in your general convo list?

It's a link to my journal because my messages were disabled. Sol put it there.

Ah I see, there is a convo about the problem in that journal (I only looked at the first post). http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/F105207?thread=8212297#p110365027

I can also see that while the start a new convo button is there (in alabaster), it doesn't actually post when you try it out.

Phew...
I just searched back over two years of my convos trying to find anything left in my message center. I couldn't remember any specific subject lines so it wasn't an easy search. I did finally find one though.

How weird, I looked earlier, and there was no sign of your message centre and the conversations.
Now, in Alabaster, I can see them, but going into them, they all seem to say Thread closed, even though I can see by recent postings that this is blatantly wrong.
did you annoy the good message fairy or something Ottox?

Sorry, it is Ottox who has the closed threads and Count Zero with the missing message centre. I am doubly confused.

You shouldn't believe everything you read, especially not Thread Closed-signs.

You know as soon as I pressed 'post' I wondered whether that was what you'd done - but it had me fooled for long enough to actually make a fool of me. It's too late at night here but well done for tricking me!

OK, I'm fairly confident that my messages still exist since I found one in my convos and saw my message centre in barelyscrewed, (thanks Ottox).
I've let the eds know and also let Pastey know just in case.
Anyway, what would this great migration be without some trials and tribs?
