I was sick of pressing "Click here to see newer posts" so I thought we'd continue it here.
I also hate the forum layout, though I've never seen the older one 'cause I'm relatively new. Ideally... the pages and messages would be in chronological order, but when you clicked on a link to that post, it would go straight to the last page (most recent posts). And maybe in the Preferences you could have a little blank where we could specify how many posts we'd like to see on each page. I don't really like the thread layout, with expanding and contracting blah blah. Don't like loading a whole page and only getting one post on it.
I didn't even know Alabaster was new... and even though I love the way Classic GOO looks (most beautiful layout I've seen on the Net, EVER), it doesn't have the links that Alabaster does. So I've been forced to switch to Alabaster. Ugh. Maybe, um, in Classic GOO you could put the important things like "My Home," "Don't Panic," etc. on the left side, using the same kind of links, and then stuff like "Who's Online" could be in smaller links across the top? That way you could fit more stuff.

I don't know about you, but I don't use the excess buttons on the Alabaster sking, so I stay with the GOO, my favorite.

Brie Cheese Eater:
In case you weren't aware, you can add your own 'who's online' link on your home page in GuideML with the following code:

Fair enough. Mind you, the site will probably have changed beyond all recognition by the time I'm back here in the Autumn!

I knew about the who's online link, but it's not on every page... :P Yes, I'm too lazy to keep going back to My Home. Thanks anyway!

I hope that the change in the forums happens very soon.
Currently I am working from an internet cafe, and when I have finished scrolling the forum I am out of time to participate. I think this goes also for those researchers who have internet contract on time (hourly) basis. It is kinda discouraging.
Please hurry it up !!!!
