Nitpicking about a little button

Post 1

On the introductory User Page, the text states "click the 'User Information' button to the left," or something to that effect. Anyway, the button is on the right, and it's labeled "preferences." Only when hovering with the cursor did I see that that was the button referred to in the text. It'd save a bit of frustration for newcomers if you just indulged me and wrote "'preferences' button to the right" in the text. Thanks a mil!

Nitpicking about a little button

Hi, Pi,

I think they just haven't gotten that text updated yet. Up until last week, it was the 'my details' button on the left for everyone. But now there are two 'skin' choices that are arranged differently.

If you go to your preferences and change skin to 'classic goo', you'll see how it's arranged in that skin. (or you can just add ?skin=classic to the end of your home page address just to see what it looks like).

You're right, though... since all newcomers are now given Alabaster as the default skin unless they change it... and they have to find the preferences button in order to change it.... the introductory comments should be updated. smiley - smiley

Anyway... Welcome. Take a moment to add something to your home page -- it'll make it easier for people to visit you. There's a friendly bunch at the Newcomers Welcome page http://www.h2g2.com/A5752 and a bunch of Assistant Community Editors (ACEs) who are there to help and some of them may drop by during the next week, or you could visit them first at http://www.h2g2.com/A214796 . There's also a quick reference guide at http://www.h2g2.com/A344756 that has some useful links.

Good luck.
