i was wondering why when i edited my home page to get rid of the intro text, it became a guide entry as well ?

i thought guide entries, journal entries, and my home page were all separte entities, although all part of the guide at the same time.

i mean, my home page won't neccessarily have 1 theme to it, ya know ? other than a theme about my interests i guess. so it's a little weird to suddenly have it be listed as a guide entry as well.

and, when i deleted what i'd done to the home page, the guide entry also deleted. will that always happen ? and where will (real) guide entires show up with reference to my home page ?

sorry - one other thing.

how do i find other people's home pages ? if i search a random topic will it include home pages as places to look along with guide entires, etc. ?

Don't worry about the home page being an 'entry'.

Basically there are two kinds of things here:
1: pages or entries, and
2: forums with threads (including journals)
and everything is part of h2g2.

Pages or entries include:
- everyone's home page,
- other specialized or community pages that people create with no intention of being an 'official' guide entry
- entries that are being submitted for approval as guide entries
- approved guide entries

All are created in pretty much the same way, which is why your home page is included in the list of pages/entries you have created. As long as you don't go into the edit page function and click on 'submit article for approval' then nobody is expecting that the page should be in the form of an 'official guide entry'.

So go ahead and have fun with your home page... Include all your interests. Add fish Put favorite links and change it as often as you like. Visit my page by clicking on my name above and you'll see what I mean.

When you go to the search page http://www.h2g2.com/Search you'll see check boxes for:
- Approved Guide Entries (officially edited and approved entries)
- Guide Entries (Home pages and any other kind of miscellaneous pages)
- Submitted Guide Entries (entries that people are hoping will be officially edited and approved

If you search in Guide Entries, it will include all sorts of pages including home pages.
