a parent with a baby born with webbed toes

i had a daughter on november first 2006. she was born three weeks early, but healthy. a week after i brought her home i was playing with her tiny feet. i notice that she had a webbed toe. i cryed all day. i thought it was my fault that she was born like that. the doctors didn't even noticed until her first doctors appointment when i asked about it. the doctors told me not to worry about it. they told me she was to young to seperate them, and it would be to painfull for her. i decided to wait until she was old enough to make her own decision.
i've seen lots of pictures of other peoples webbed toes, but none like my baby girl. its her baby toe on the right side that is webbed. all the pictures i have seen are the middle toes. does any one out thier have a webbed toe like my daughters?

I think webbed toes are not that uncommon. ThereĀ“s a few celebrities who have admitted to being born with webbed toes, and my geology teacher still has it. I think a surgical procedure to remove it could be done rather easily if you wanted, but they might not want to do anything involving anestethics on such a young child.

Surgery to correct a toe? Sorry, that's (with respect) daft. Check her father's parents or grandparents - it's as much a heritage thing as your daughter's eye colour or her nose. Webbed toes cause no harm to a child, will only be noticable if someone really looks and can end up as a cool quirk later on in life.

Please don't feel you have to 'correct' a beautiful flaw. smiley - peacedove
