Morecambe really is gip, isn't it? Complete pants (to use a word from the English Slang entry). Have you seen the Eric Morecambe statue? When it was put up it provided the Lancaster Guardian with front-page news for a month. Luckily I've moved away from Lancaster/Morecambe now, so I don't have to live there.

I really should update this entry. I wrote it two years ago when I first moved to Lancaster, just before my A-levels, but since then I've moved and now live in Morecambe - and it's not so bad.
What I say is Morecambe is a nice place to live, but I wouldn't want to visit there.
I was there when they opened that statue, slouching in the pub doorway opposite - saw the queen, I asked after the family, as you do, she said, "James!" she said, "Buy me a pint and I'll tell you all about it." They didn't put that in the Lancaster Guardian!
That statue has provided me with endless hours of fun. I watch all the blue rinsed dears trying to cock their leg up to do the pose, some of those legs haven't been that high since the war.
Anyway, I liked it so much I stayed (I'm at lancaster uni), well at least it gives me something to talk about.

Having been born and brought up in Morecambe, I feel I must rise to its defence. But it's difficult...
OK, Here goes. The best thing about Morecambe is Morecambe Bay, with the views across to the Lakeland Hills, and the spectacular sunsets. It's set in a reasonably good location. In addition, the town is making efforts to improve itself by tidying up the front. You should have lived there in the 80s.
Having said all that, I don't live there any more, and couldn't. However, it's always good to get back and see the sea.

I agree with everything you said. I too pine for the sea when I'm away. I really should update this entry.
