I am a sixteen year old female, sixth year student in NI. I was born with cerebal palsy (diplegia, I think) and it ain’t too bad. The one thing that does annoy the hell outta me is that when I am in school, certain people think I am fragile and will hurt myself severely if I fall. Alright, I have been known to have a few but I can handle myself pretty damn well when this does happen. I can walk but not very well- nevertheless, this doesn’t stop me running about and doing everything the other kids can do.
I have an assistant (have had since the beginning of secondary) and have spent nearly all my time asking them to f*** off and leave me alone, because not only am I a good thinker, I can also handle myself pretty damned well…
I’m gonna have an operation to ‘straighten out’ my legs and hopefully it will… but time will tell. After this I will take great pleasure in walking around alone and throwing the finger up at those who were ignorant and did not understand how I worked…
Long live the Disability Awareness, dudes!
