A Conversation for What is God?

The Catholic god

I was brought up a catholic, and a good one at that! I followed blindly all that I was taught about god because I couldn't think for myself. At the time this was a good idea because it gave me a sound moral basis on which to govern my life. However as you get older, and perhaps wiser, you have your own thoughts and eventually I found that god did not seem so good after all. I looked for arguments to 'prove the non-existence of god'. It took me a while but I eventually managed it. My catholic teachers always told me that god was not bound by the confines of the universe or even time itself. This lead me to ask that if god was not bound by time then surely he knows everything that has been, is happening, and is to come. Therefore, as his creation, he knows our final fate. What is the point of our existence if he knows all the crap we are going to do and all the suffering that we are going to endure. He must surely be some sort of monster to put us through all that knowing the final result every time. Just a thought! To me, though, it was the end of religion in my life and a realisation that there is only one god and that is your own self. After all, yourself is the only thing that is totally within your control!
