I cancelled my mobile phone contract because I was paying too much, and have taken out a new one. All correct so far. The chappie in the shop gave me a new SIM card. As I get a "free" tablet with the new contract, he said I could put the SIM card in the tablet. I think that was a mistake. I wanted to keep my old number, but by activating the SIM card I have given it a new number.

I hope I can get this sorted so that as from next week my number doesn't change. But if he tells me I'm stuck with the new number now, some of you will be getting texts from me in a couple of days with notice of a change of number.

Journals are apparently like buses. Don't write one for months and then three come along on the same day.

Have just been along to the phone place and they reassured me that the number will revert to my present number once the old contract expires. Still holding my breath, though.

Good news for everyone - my connection came back yesterday with the old number (a lovely number, if I may say so) and without even having to change the SIM card in my phone. The SIM card in the tablet has another number, but I'll try to leave that switched off as there will no doubt be a danger of overstepping the data limit. That will be purely for wifi use, except in emergencies.
