Today I think I'll dig up a few limericks from the limerick thread.

Sometimes they make up a conversation that goes on for several posts. Sometimes they're stand-alones.

The very first one from 9 June 2001:

Let's ramble and rant, oh so wryly,
Suggestively, strangely, or slyly.
Let's have a great time
As we stretch for a rhyme,
And end with the usual

A few more random ones, some the odder for being out of context.


*Opens a bottle of his best champagne*
Do not ever fear to refrain
If it gets up your nose
put head between toes
But on the carpet don't leave a stain

Erk!! You should see those neighbours of mine
Wouldn't touch'em with ten feet of pine
A head like a pimple
A mind that is simple
Thank God for the fence (six foot nine)


Cricket, for those in the know
Is a delicate art, not a show
But for some sporting mugs
And those who like thugs
Maybe Rugby's the way they should go

Waterskiing is a fun thing to do
Its really quite difficult too
You've got to Lean Back
While they take up the Slack
And then you're off with a WooHOO!!

My mother has striven for years,
and it's often reduced her to tears,
to make me behave
and not act so depraved
But alas, I've lived up to her fears



When playing the old dating game
The rules remain much the same
Talk to her nice
Give her gifts (once or twice)
And, most important, remember her name.


I don't think too highly of editors
They come up like ravening creditors
Throw out our inspired bits
Leave in our cross-wired bits
Then publish a shambles and head it ours


To err is human so they say
to forgive is divine in a way
but life is too short
to think that we ought
to feel guilty each time that we stray.

There are now 3060 posts in the thread. That makes - almost - 3060 limericks. AS the title says: "Each post a limerick"
