You can call me TC

My eldest gave me a box set of "The IT Crowd" for Christmas and I have spent the last 2 evenings watching seasons 1-3 back to back. I still hurt from laughing.

Why haven't I seen it before? - Well the German version is and it's hardly the sort of thing I could watch with my mother when I'm in the UK. I doubt if she even knows where Channel 4 is on her TV.

Roy and Moss are absolutely loveable and Katherine thingy who plays Jen is really really funny. Their comic timing is brilliant.

And on DVD 3, among the extras, they have some real smiley - geeksmiley - geek talking about the game they had hidden on the first DVD. Guess who was one of the smiley - geeksmiley - geek? Our very own Jim Lynn!!!!

It seems like a lifetime ago, but I remember strolling around Hyde Park with him and Gnomon - they were discussing the names of their young daughters. Now those kids are at university, and h2g2 is still here!!

Hooray for smiley - geeksmiley - geek

Lanzababy - Guide Editor

DVDs make excellent presents don't they, I prefer watching them than streaming stuff. But in the case of the IT crowd, I may just be tempted as I've not heard of it. Too long in the wilds, smiley - island

Happy New Year!

I was given Edge of Darkness - the 1980s nuclear-industry thriller with Bob Peck (more details and a blob here: A17526008)

I watched the first episode last night - gloriously atmospheric. The main difference between EoD and thrillers today is that the old ones contain long periods without dialogue. Can't wait to watch the rest of it. smiley - smiley

We had a mega Big Bang Theory-a-thon. Marvellous!

Gnomon - time to move on

I enjoy "The IT Crowd". It's written by the same guy as did Father Ted. My daughters love it.

All three, Moss, Roy and Jen, are real finds.

I'm about to seek out a boxed set of Flight of the Conchords.

Watching a boxed set like that back to back literally steeps you in the world of the series. It's hard to find myself back in reality at the moment!

Next stop definitely Big Bang Theory.

Ok - picked up a DVD going cheap of the Big Bang Theory. Probably going cheap because it never caught on in Germany, so no one would want it with the German translation. It is really funny - no wonder they couldn't translate those scripts - they're brilliant, and the nerdy characters are wonderful!

I'm a bit worried about what genuine autists would say about Sheldon, he really is an extreme case.

Sho - employed again!

all my German friends love BBT. So much so that when I wore my Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizzard-Spock t-shirt they kept shouting it at me and making me play the game.

Except the guy who shouts Bazinga! every time he sees me now.

I must try the IT crowd. We're currently working our way through Battlestar Galactica. It seems very decadent just to grab a disc and watch all the eps on it!

For some reason, I've never been able to do that back-to-back-episode-watching. It's the same with watching all the Star Wars/Lord of the Rings/etc. I always get a bit restless and it ends up seeming like a chore. smiley - laugh

Try doing the ironing at the same time, KB!

I can send you the IT crowd DVD's if you like Sho. I've got season 4 coming to me soon - Apparently season 5 hasn't aired yet, but is written and should be on TV this coming autumn.

If I had to do it while ironing too, I think I'd go out of my mind! Point taken, though. If I was watching a whole TV/film series while peeling veg, woodcarving or ironing, it would be bearable, I think. At least I'd be doing something else too!

Malabarista - now with added pony

I got BBT from my sister for my birthday, must watch it soon.

All I know about it so far is that at the last university clubs sign-up day, 11 people asked me whether the gaming club does "that game they play on Big Bang Theory" smiley - headhurts

We watched a lot of BBT back to back when Rog got out of hospital. Collapsed on a sofa in front of the telly was about all he was fit for!

oh thanks TC, that would be great - if you don't mind how long it takes to get them back to you? (I'd make sure we watched them PDQ though)

I think this thread was what finally got me to buy The IT Crowd, so thank you very much TC! smiley - winkeye

Are you aware that the two smiley - geeksmiley - geek sitting together with Jim Lynn are Sean Sollé (U7 / U168520) (credited on several of the episodes) and the late Tim Browse (<./>U1</.> / U168521)?! If you look at the DVD credits you'll also find Yoz (U47 / U168516) and Shim (U27 / U168515), so it's the whole of the old h2g2 development team (U34439) who has worked on those 1337-subtitles etc. smiley - biggrin
