This is a short but well written and informative article. Possably a little short but coudl efinitely stand as part of a cheesy '80s shows article.

I agree, it meets all the basic criteria.
Just think, if we listed *all* the cheesy 80s shows, it could be a huge article!

I don't remember this show coming to Britain (and the people who have the final say are overwhelmingly British) - so could a US Scout comment further?

Thanks,

GVI

It did get a Brittish showing in the 80s. But it was a short series. It is now being repeated on Bravo. Weekends 8pm I think.

Don't forget the "Blue Thunder", the original helicopter series and a "Highwayman" about a juggernaut (big lorry) starred Sam Neill.

I say you make this article about 80s hero shows based around vehicles. I reckon the A* Team is deserving in an entry of its own right, although I'm not the one to write it smiley - tongueout Not quite sure whether "Automan" would fit in the suggested category. Maybe it should be a category for cheesy US shows that only lasted about 1 series, but got a prime time showing on British tv. I seem to remember that Automan was on, on Saturday evenings; Blue Thunder on a Monday night opposite Corrie (and following Wogan); and "StreetHawk" well I'm not sure, but one of these two slots probably.

I am a true child of the 70s, who grew up in the 80s and spent a decade watching TV.

Of course, once we get past all the above entries we then need to find out where "The Fall Guy" fits into the plan .....

Looking back at that entry I may have been talking crap about "Highwayman" starring Sam Neill. I meant to say it starred Sam ...... (the bloke who played Flash Gordon in the film), but I've forgotten his name. By the time "Highwayman" came around (1988-89) he'd dyed his hair black!! Looked a lot better for it, he did.

Having now actually read the entry, I think it's pretty solid.

One part I didn't understand though was:
"The Government over-ruled Norman, to the extent that when Jessie's knee was damaged in the line of duty, Norman arranged for experimental surgery to repair the knee, and allow Jessie to become Street Hawk's pilot"

if the Government over-ruled Norman, why would he then choose to get the guy's knee repaired so he could become the pilot. Surely if Norman didn't like the guy he would see the knee as a good opportunity to block the Government's decision. Please clarify situation.

How about a bit of critical comment on the show? I've never seen it, but would assume like all programmes of this type that it had poor plotlines, unbelievable stunts and reutilised the same footage for certain stunts or Streethawk leaving it's hideaway.

Maybe this is the direction a "Cheesy hero shows" entry should take. Work backwards by discussing all the things necessary to write one and then use examples from the various shows. Bit like the "Rules of Horror" in Scream.

As per teh norman thing, more of a character thing. Norman didn't trust Jessie with Street hawk. He didn't mind him once he was given the post.

And I think the '80s hero show thing may work better even though some small published articles on teh individual shows coudl still work.

Oh, and the main staple flaw that street Hawk suffered from was the "Posing" flaw (There was a bit of stck footage, I don't know only having seen some of teh series) The Posing flaw was, every so often, for no reason you'd get a shot of jessie posing with strret Hawk in a "Don't i look cool" way.

Yep get that bit about "Posing" in there.

I've just written an entry on Airwolf. It's in the Writing Workshop, any comments gratefully received.

Nice entry - the only thing I think it's missing is a link to any official or fan site that may exist... There *must* be a Street Hawk fanclub...

Actually, you would be surprised. Street hawk seems hard to track down a fan following. Just about all the others have one, A-Team, Knight Rider, Airwolf. But Street Hawk has virtually no following.

Today's latest edited guide entries includes http://www.h2g2.com/A476813 Automan - the Tv Series. I think this sets the standard for our entries on Streethawk & Airwolf. Get researching smiley - winkeye

As has been said before a decent overview entry on "80s shows" wouldn't go amiss either .....

Neat. I know the person who write this article so I'll tell him to look at it. I may also do an article on Knight Rider. But it will take research. Also, tehre is an A-team article out tehre somewhere.

Over the Crimbo period, I read a letter in Empire magazine that says George Clooney appeared in an episode of Streethawk. Add it NOW!!

Oh yes. He was. and he had (dum dum Duuuuuuuum) 80s Hair. Also appearing in Streethawk was Voyagers Robert Beltran in teh pilot as Jessies Partner.
