Reading through policies and rules and don't do this and please don't do that, I thought:
We're all intelligent and sensible. Why can't we be left to our own devices.
Rules are too heavy. You put a rule somewhere, and someone will try to break it. Well that's the thing, if you tell someone not to do something they'll go and do what you've told them not to. I know I would.

Researchers on this site are all intelligent and sensible ....could have fooled me.. I had a good 50% of them down as totally potty..

I don't think H2G2 go in for rules per se. Everyone is fairly laid back about most things here.

There are some things that need/have to be said somewhere in the guide, because of international copyright law. TDV don't want to breech that, so the researchers do need some guidelines about what not to stick in their pages.

Other than that - hey lets keep it subversive..

But remember, no spitting.......

Thank you Peta for a thoughroly (oops) sensible view on these rules. What you say is ver y valid and true, it's just the mere sight of all this 'you shall do as we say' worded in such authoritarian style makes me want to shout at the world that imposes these things upon us.

But, I suppose, it does bring a form of order to us anarchists.
