So typical - I write journal entries of nothing and then if I really do something or go somewhere then I don't write anything about it.
Recently I spent few days in Cairo. I have never been that south before so it was quite impressive. I mean, even the 50C difference in temperature and the fact that one can actually *see* the air in Cairo. Mostly I was impressed by the traffic, of course. I think there's the same selection of nature - only those who manage to survive for first 3 years can live there. (The same seemed to work in Netherlands, with drowning in channels.) Anyway, I am lucky to survive 3 days. There were some young and helpful gentlemen in the group, you see.
In Cairo I realised that I am very much addicted to oxygen. Withdrawal syndrom appeared in first 12 hours. Mind you, we arrived late in the evening.
People in Cairo are very open and friendly. More so if you show them . I was quite scared and tired. Confused anyway. Obviously I am afraid of people and if strangers make any physical contact (like grabbing my arm or tapping on my shoulder) then I jump and . The latter is dangerous, of course, due to the traffic. Frankly, I can't stop wondering why they waste electrickety on traffic lights.
Houses in Cairo are... interesting. Mostly I was wondering how they agree to stay in a general shape of house. Some didn't, but even those had air conditioning and sattelite disc. I'd never think they have electrickety and plumbing in those houses but they do.
There were nice houses too, with windows and all. But those were boring or in restricted areas.
Most impressive houses were the pyramides, mainly because of their size. Now I know that to some extend size matters to me. After no thinking I decided that all I want to do with/at a pyramide is to sit on it and have a cigarette. And so I did. It was nice.
There were few other nice things actually. I liked walking in Khan el-Khalili (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khan_El-Khalili), drinking and smoking shishi in Fishawi's cafe, drinking on the roof of the hotel.. You get the picture.
What can I say... Cairo is interesting but not a place for me. One close friend of mine said that I have the same chaos in my mind, so I should be kept in organized environment. Challenging idea.
There are few photos as well, http://hatifnat.myphotoalbum.com/view_album.php?set_albumName=album12
Ah yes, I also met few interesting people in Cairo, the most interesting one was Alaa Al Aswany. I think I may want to read The Yacoubian Building one day.

You ... went to ... Cairo? Did you go to the Egyptian Museum and view the Death Mask of Tutankhamun for me?

No. The museum was right behind our hotel but it wasn't really a tourist trip and so we ended our daily activities always later than the museum.
