Tea is also good for when you're trying to wake up (and if you spill it on yourself, you wake up really fast).

Tea is useful when I can't get to sleep, but Coffee is deffinetely the drink for me, sorry but it's just the only thing that will instantly wake me up. And as for stress, STRESS! DO I LOOK STRESSED TO YOU! I AM PERFECTLY, COMPLETELY CALM! I AM TRANQUILITY INCARNATE!!!!
Of course Diet Coke is supperior to both these drinks put together (Hey, now there's an idea! Try mixing Tea and coffee, excuse me I'm just hopping off to the kitchen...)

Seriously, though, coffee shops have taken up some of the the social function of bars (pubs) in the US. They are local meeting places where people who don't know each other can gather for casual conversation.
Many local coffee houses now include live music on certain nights. Some also stock games like Monopoly, Scrabble, and chess. And many stay open rather late at night, especially during the weekends. So coffee houses are becoming local hangouts in a way that used to be monopolized by bars.
For the struggling bar-going alcoholic who needs to stay away from temptation, coffee houses provide the perfect avenue to the weekly (or daily) social interaction they are used to. The best ones are often local establishments. Look for them in small spaces located near colleges, bookstores, and malls.
