Gnomon - time to move on Started conversation Jul 31, 2012
I'll be away for two of the next three weeks. I'm going with the family to our mobile home in Wexford on Sunday for a week. I'll be back in work for a week, then I'll be away in Wexford for another week.
Mrs G doesn't have enough leave to come down for the second week, but she might be able to come for one of the two weekends. Daughter Iz also needs to be in Dublin that week (she's doing an art course) so it may be just me and daughter El. Or even just me. I'm determined to get away from it all, even if I end up there on my own.
I've seen all the sights in Wexford many years ago, so I'll probably spend the time reading, playing the guitar and enjoying the sun.

I'll second that advice. I just spent an entire week away without hearing anyone speak English. That was relaxing too.
I still have no idea what they were shouting at me about, but there you go.

When I went to London in 1985, we were chased by a mad Frenchman. I still don't know what he was shouting. The one person in our group who had taken French lessons said that the best she could understand was something like "RETURN THE FISHES" or something else equally inane. (It's been too long for me to remember what she actually thought he'd said.)

They're working on the Irish Heritage place, so that may have changed since you were last there....

Yes, I'll bring my camera. I'll see if I can persuade either of my daughters to bring along their ukulele.

TRiG (Ireland) A dog, so bade in office Posted Aug 1, 2012
A couple of weeks ago I was staying at my parents place to mind the house and feed the cat while they were away. One Sunday I did not leave the property: spent a fair bit of time in the back garden, picked and ate some raspberries, read, listened to the radio. I did not turn on either a computer or a phone all day. Never looked at a screen. Did not say or type a word to anyone else.
I could do with a few more days like that. They give peace.
TRiG.
