h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I see from the ComingUp page that we now have:

5 entries picked but not yet assigned to subs.
15 entries with the subs.
3 entries are "waiting for approval" which means they're all ready to go. One of them even has a picture, so it will be the front page main entry on Monday next.
Two thirds of the entries with subs at the moment are with people who are going to be very busy when h2g2 is handed over.

This means that:

1. The Eds have not been picking anything recently, so we're a bit low on entries in the system.

2. It's essential that at least three entries get returned from the subs in the next few days so that there is something to publish on Monday week.

3. We need more people to do sub-editing.

Radox's Worcestershire Sauce Entry is ready to be returned - I was just discussing illustrations with him last night.

I've also got a shortish one of bob's which I can probably turn around in the next day or so. I'm visiting my daughter at the moment, so not today at least.

I notice that Atlantic Cable has four, which the Eds have asked him to return, but maybe he is on holiday, or otherwise unable to reply to them - but they all look fairly easy to sub.

One of the problems lies with the Scouts - they seem reluctant to attend to their duties of recommendation - hmmmm.

There are two by Mags on the recommendation list, A80725566 and A80646762 but she has elvised. I can't really understand the reason for not selecting them and sub-editing the points made in Peer Review. Perhaps you'd take a look at them and see if you think they're fit material. This might convince the Eds to make the selection?

We also have one by Mala: A80887576 which I think she has forgotten about. She's not happy yet with this one, which is why it's not been selected by the Eds. Ditto the one by Happy Nerd: A78788074

I'll try and motivate the Scouts, otherwise I'll just leap in and make some recommendations myself.

I also have two done-and-dusted PR entries if anyone's in a picking mood.

There's a problem with the Recommendation Page again.

I selected two, but only one had registered in the list.

I've contacted the Eds about it.

Seems so geggs - and thanks to the Scouts, we've had a flurry of recommendations selected by the Eds.


It's good to see the enthusiasm all round.

ComingUp is looking much healthier now. We've three ready for next Monday, another three in the pipe-line for the following Monday, 15 with the subs and another 9 waiting for subs to request them.

As an added bonus, 5 of the 9 entries waiting to be assigned to sub-editors have a sub-editing difficulty of 1, so they could be done in about 5 minutes each.

Is there a shortage of sub-eds? I can certainly return, I've signed up for the subs on noohootoo anyway.

Afraid I have no time to finish that entry or sub anything; in Germany unexpectedly because of a family emergency. Internet access looks iffy until I move next month, anyway.

Officially there's no shortage of sub-eds, but very few of them other than Lanzababy and I have done any editing recently.
