My entry on Pipe Organs was picked today 16-Feb-2009.
I started writing it on 23-July-2001. At the time, I was filling in gaps in the Guide, and had completed all the orchestra instruments, so I started on the organ, then found later the same day that another researcher had also started an entry on organs A595785 just a few days earlier. I was discouraged and dropped my one.
Recently I found it and put it into Peer Review, and it was picked today. So that's seven and a half years in the writing.

Well, my Beethoven entry was picked after only 22 hours in Peer Review: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/plain/F69209?thread=117933 After that, they introduced the 7 day rule.
