Flutes? Watches? Sorry for just dropping in like this, I was checking the most recently updated conversations....
I used to play the flute in an orchestra, and our conductor had a self-wind-up-watch - it just needed for him to move his arm every now and then...
...but he was a bit confused by the watch always being ahead, going too fast... until he realized he was wearing it while conducting, waving his arms around quite a lot...
