I think we are there 24/25/26 March - myself, partner and daughter - we have some things booked already, we are going to spend a day going to the Grand Canyon - drive + helicopter + boat and also myself and daughter are being picked up at 5.30am one day to go for a breakfast ride! smiley - biggrin

We wanted to see O at Bellagio but its SOOOOOO expensive! Is there a way to get cheaper tickets or can you recommend another show?

What do you do in Las Vegas (I like your name for it better) smiley - ok

Thats really cool. ummm you might like Tommy Chong of Cheech and Chong, but you have kids, uh. Hmmmm can't say that I go to many shows out here. And the ones I'd like to go to you have to 21(I'm only 19.) Sorry most shows out here ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOO expensive. To me the shows aren't worth it, but that could just be me anyway. Alright hope you have a good time, oh and don't forget that there are Casinos outside of the strip (circling for some eight miles actually.)
bye

I find that Vegas is one of those places where you can have as much fun as you want to allow yourself to - and it doesn't really matter whether you're on a tight or a loose budget. Just gotta know where the action is (also, helps having dancer friends, nudge, nudge, wink, wink).

A few months ago I was fortunate enough to be a guest of the NY,NY hotel and was taken to see the Blue Man Group. Fabulous! Next time I hope to stay at Mandalay. Of course, that means subsisting on spam and Ramen for a few months!

We're back now!
We did have a really good time in Vegas tho' going to the Grand Canyon took a whole day, riding a half a day then it was HOT so we wanted to soak up some sun.
We were at the Venetian which meant a great suite BUT I loved Bellagio and would also love to stay at the Mandalay Bay - those GOLD windoww, wow! Apparently each glass flower on the ceiling of Bellagio cost $10,000, its incredible how much money has been spent there.
The show we saw was Lord of the Dance at NY NY, not my choice but not bad. Just a really blue-rinse audience!
I missed the pirate battle at Treasure Island so will have to go back for that.
ps what on earth is Ramen???
We either ate fantastically (2% of the time) or lived on burgers, chips and pizza

"Ramen" is a brand of dried noodle dishes that are incredibly cheap (you can buy a case of the stuff for $5 at Pic N Sav) and are loaded with carbos and MSG. Just add boiling water and hey presto! A meal fit for peasant.

Anyway, glad you had fun at the Grand Canyon. I haven't been there since I was 10 years old and rode a burro down to the bottom. Hey, ever gone rafting on the Colorado river? I hear it's fantastic.

I've wondered how much those glass poppies cost at Bellagio, learn something new every day. When last I was at Bellagio, they had their Chinese New Year docorations up in the atrium. Only one problem, all the pictographs on the banners were upside-down! How class-less!

Speaking of eating well in Vegas, there's a little restaurant called The Pamplemoose. It's just off the strip (couple blocks from Sahara) and theeee most romatic place I've ever been. From the outside it looks like a run-down private home, but inside it's all candlelight, tuxedoed waiters and soft music. Since it's off-strip the prices were a lot more reasonable than, say, one of the uber-restaurants inside Mandalay or Venetian.

I'd like to go back some day and have more time to look at places I missed and go back to the Grand Canyon but not on an organised tour this time.
Our boat only went so far then they said if they went any farther we would hit the rapids, that was ok with me! 2 years ago we did white water rafting in Alaska and I loved it though my feet were in 3 inches of ice water and mauve by the time we got out and I just about fell over as they were frozen solid. The man who took us just had bare feet, he must have been really tough because we were in that boat for about 2 hours.
You have some great places to do dangerous things in the States.....
