Hey Danny, do you know the legal situation if I publish my method on H2G2? Will I be able to identify myself as the inventor or will it be owned by the BBC?
Cheers smiley - smiley

That's a tricky one... Technically, you still own the copyright - ie, you could publish it elsewhere if the chance arose, without worrying about action by the BBC.

However, by publishing it, you are giving the BBC permission to make use of it in other publications (as a simple example, they could use it on the BBCi homepage as an example of the content of H2G2). If they do this, they don't necessarily have to credit your name, just that of H2G2 - see http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/DontPanic-Contrib#3 for more details...

Hey Danny.
I'm ready to start letting people know my music method. Could you perhaps put a message on the Musicians' Guild directing them to my space? My email contact is on there.

Thanks smiley - ok

BTW I like it when you post up the link when there's a music thread in ASK. Great idea.

They say 'there ain't nothing new under the sun' Danny, and alas my method has already been documented in a book.
However, it only seems to be known by a few people, and as I've contacted people who've never heard of it and they found it useful, I think it may still be worth adding as a guide entry. I hope they will enjoy using it as much as I have.
Thanks for the 'plugs' on site Danny. smiley - ok

Let me know what you think Danny.

Er, can I dip my toe in predictable waters and ask for a subtle plug at the guild?

Thanks smiley - smiley

Hmm... I did this and then never replied. Very remiss of me smiley - erm

Anyway, the plug is in place - I hope you get some good responses. Now, any chance of you coming up with a method of writing lyrics? smiley - winkeye

Thanks Danny.

Mixed responses so far. I suppose I can't expect something to work for everybody.

For me, lyrics have always been a bit of an afterthought - something I just chuck on a melody I like. I've never been a lyrics person.

I know what you mean. I generally write the lyrics first, then set them to music, then think "Hmm... that's quite a nice tune, I wish I'd written better lyrics!" smiley - erm
