The references to the DETR now need updating. The relevant Department of State, since mid 2001, has been the DTLR which stands for the Department of Transport, Local Government and the Regions. Most environmental policy business formerly covered by the DETR is now handled by DEFRA, a new department for "the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs" which has evolved from the disbanded MAFF (Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food).
